The Carneros Resort is one of those extremely special places one should visit at least once in their life. Located in Napa the Carneros Resort is extremely well planned and executed. The planning definitely emphasized ecology and sustainability. The houses to rent are varied and the grounds are beautifully planned. Great things come at a cost and the Carneros is no different. The Farm Restaurant is on the premises and is highly rated and the Boon Fly is a wonderful breakfast spot. All the amenities are present for a price. Treat yourself. You will not be disappointed.

The architecture is Cannery Row meets Disney. Small cottages in various muted colors with stylistic tin roofs, but with average 2000’s decor inside. We were in a three bedroom villa with expansive views and a beautiful outdoor patio and an upstairs verandah. Plenty of space for two couples and two teens. Great home base to see Napa.

Here’s what soured us. Saturday morning in early February we walked to the restaurant by the pool and took a table. Others came and sat after we did and were served. We were completely ignored by the wait staff. My husband stopped a waiter, “Could you call our waiter?” And then nothing. It was lovely out and we waited, chatting together. More guests arrived and they were served. My husband again stopped a waiter, “Is it something we did by sitting here? It’s been 20 minutes and no one has taken our order.” Two placemats arrived and they asked what coffee we would like. Ten minutes more and still no coffee. It had been 30 minutes and we were completely invisible to the staff despite two clear attempts to get service. We got up and stood next to our table, hoping to get someone’s attention so we could at least get some coffee. Waiters served food to tables in our left and right - all guests who had arrived after we had. Even our standing there was no help. We left.

And no one cared.

A baffling experience for a high end property.

I am pleased you enjoyed the views and amenities of your three-bedroom home and that the layout met the needs of your family while visiting Napa. I apologize for the service you received at the hilltop pool. I can assure you the level of service you described is not our standard. We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite, complete with two bathrooms and a living/dining area, a kitchen and two bedrooms, as well as a hot tub, a heated porch with fireplace and a Florida room. It could not have been nicer. The bungalows are well appointed and pretty. Even though ours was near the main entrance, it was quiet.

Dinner at Farm was good, and a special mention to Taylor Hill, the concierge, who deftly understood what we were looking for in spending the day in Napa, and picked the right vineyards for us to visit, and the right place for lunch. The rosemary orange body wash, which creates a very bubbly bubble bath, is a big hit.

Room tip: Most rooms don't have views of the vineyards.

I loved this very special property. We had such a great suite with two separate rooms that connected with a shared private patio. It was ideal for splitting up among the girls. We borrowed bikes and rode to a few local vineyards. We also really enjoyed the family style brunch at their restaurant. Room service on our private patio was probably my favorite meal though. I thought the service was exceptional from the complimentary wine at check in to the incredible concierge.

Dear SkiB1,
We are thrilled to learn you and your friends had a great experience. The complimentary bicycles are such a fun way to visit nearby wineries that surround Carneros Resort and Spa. The two cottage suites are a great way to travel with friends or family and we are pleased you enjoyed the shared private patio between your two cottages. Thank you for you kind comments about the service you received. I will be sure to pass them along to the entire team.

Instead of appearing a trailer camp, the room was fine with a big and good bathroom. The fireplace is very good and providential! It was raining and cold! The staff was very gentile. The concierge was not so helpful to get us to exclusive wineries but the usual was fine. It is a beautiful place!

Dear felipesaddy1972,
I am pleased you enjoyed your standalone cottage while visiting Napa and were able to enjoy your in-room fireplace while the weather was chilly outside. Our concierge team works to create a curated itinerary for each guest and can often arrange for guests to visit boutique and exclusive wineries, restaurants and experiences in Napa Valley. I apologize if a venue of choice was not available to visit during your stay. We would love to assist with your ideal itinerary when you return next.
Sincerely,
Ed Costa, Managing Director
