“Bad smell and dirty!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

I couldn't tell what the smell was but it was bad and didn't go away.
The carpet was very dirty and stained, bathroom was dirty. This place really needs an updating! The carpet needs to be replaced. No comfortable place to sit, inconvenient electrical outlets.

I was a little underwhelmed with a recent stay at the Chardonnay Lodge. The room was very small. We had a queen bed, but it seemed almost like a full or a double. The bathroom was odd. The tub/shower and toilet were in a separate room, but there was no sink! The only sink was on the other side of the room. We had a hard time with the TV, and guy from the front office had to come and refigure things for us. Another major drawback was no breakfast. Some positives: Good location, clean, a decent price for Napa, and they recommended a great wine tour company, Platypus Wine Tours. For sure, check your options in Napa, but if you wind up here, it's not too bad.

I want to respond to some of the negative reviews.
I am a fanantic about cleanliness, comfort and quiet.
Our room was very clean, with lots of features that looked brand new. We stayed in the Lavender Room, which had an overwhelming smell of lavender when we checked in, but soon dissappeared. There were no cracks as another reviewer said.
There were plenty of new, thick towels.
No mould, no nasty smell that some people commented on.
There were small bottles, not packets of shampoo, etc, though there are no tissues.
Bedding was simple but pretty, and each bed had two adequate pillows.
We found the bed to be quite comfortable, but obviously, that's personal preference.
Yes, it is across from a high school, but unless you're coming to Napa to spend the day in your room, and are worried about noise, that's not an issue.
The exterior looked just like the online picture. It is MUCH nicer than any Motel 6 or Super 8 that we stayed in in our younger, poorer days. We were there in June, and the roses were lovely. It is on a main street, but by about 10:00pm, there was very little traffic.
I'm very safety conscious, and felt no qualms about leaving the windows open at night for a breeze.
The price of this motel is amazing for Napa. If you are expecting luxury, spend a fortune and go elsewhere. For clean, quiet and a little more than basic, this motel suits nicely.
Luckily, we had no contact with the rude woman others have complained about.
Our HUGE complaint is the wifi. It is beyond spotty. We were "thrown off" more than 100 times in the two nights we stayed. It was extremely frustrating.
The wifi issue would be the only thing that would keep us from staying there again.

Not having the income to pay $300 a night for a Yountville motel, we opted to try the Chardonnay and were so glad we did. THe room was smaller than most, but large enough for a king sized bed, bureau, small closet, stove and fridge and two chairs and room to walk around both sides of the bed. Not a place you might want to spend a full day in, but if you need a place to sleep and want this area, this place is great.

The bed was SUPER comfy and there was a big TV on the wall. The bathroom was good sized with a sink area outside of the bathroom

Loved the fact that you park the car just a few steps from the door of the room. Everything was clean except that the inside sheer curtains could have used a wash. Sheets and blankets very clean and pillows comfy.

We appreciate having an affordable place in the Napa area.

Oh.....a few doors were open with ladies cleaning rooms so I peeked in. They all looked like my room, about same size and a mediterranean decor with pretty murals on the wall.

My big con was I didn't like the toilet paper at al !!!

We were 7 girls and spent one nigh there in a weekend at Napa, all of us were satisfied with our rooms. Clean beds, clean bathroom, has mini-bar and free coffee also. Spacious rooms with big window and has a free parking as well.

The staff was friendly and the price is good for what we receive.

down-point: it was winter and the heater worked properly, but is not very good - that was it.

I recommend this hotel and might go back

My boyfriend and I were trying to do Napa Valley on a budget, and the Chardonnay Lodge was a great way to go. It was very clean, had a mini-fridge for our wine purchases, and was super easy to check in and out. The rate was affordable too and it exceeded our expectations for being a lower budget accommodation. The location was pretty close to downtown Napa (only a few minutes' drive) and was just down the street from a great bakery where we had breakfast every day. The bed was a little hard but other than that, no complaints.
