Let me set the scene for our recent Napa adventure: Budget $250 for dinner, accomodations, and breakfast. Arrival time - 7:30 pm. Departure time: 11:30 am. Purpose: Road trip - Portland to LA.
So, you could stay in a fancy wine country bed and breakfst, and you could enjoy the complimentary bottle of wine (that might be provided by the fancy place) and munch apples, bread and cheese from the grocery store. Or, you could go low-tech at the Chardonnay Lodge, and stretch your legs on the mile and one half walk into downtown Napa, have a fabulous meal at Grace's and breakfast at the Buttercreme Diner. And, if this isn't enough - take two bottles of water for the road, compliments of the Chardonnay Lodge. No complaints.
Warning - hot water surge on toilet flush - reminiscent of road trips as a child.

After perusing numerous B & Bs that offered rates of $200+ per night, my friend & I decided on this little place since we would only be spending the night after a full day of wine tasting. At $98 it was a BARGAIN, clean room and comfortable double beds, nice bathroom and refrigerator, coffee, A/C, free wi-fi, all the necessary amenities. As a plus, I was able to see the hot air balloons rising in the early morning just outside my door! I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

This motel is clean, quiet, and a little outdated, but if you need a comfortable place to lay your head after a concert at the Uptown or a day of wine tasting, this place foots the bill. Yes, the rooms are small, but the bed is comfortable and the location close to downtown. Don't be put off by the neighborhood surrounding the property. If you're looking for something under $100 in Napa that is clean and cozy, the Chardonnay Lodge is for you! I would recommend it to friends and stay there again.
