The place is still pretentious, but it no longer deserves it. The service was poor--we had to wait past our reservation time (understandable), but then it was about 15 minutes until anyone came to our table to greet us or take a drink order. Only 3 of 4 soups came, and we had to ask for the 4th quite late because there was no server around. Then we had to wait for it to come, and it came after the other empty soup bowls were removed. Then one of the entrees came substantially after the others. The food was good, but not great, and not what it used to be. If they cannot put enough meat on a sandwich, leaving a whole lot of bread without topping, they should not be charging these prices.

Atmosphere (unique artistic displays of "petrified" vines, stunning floor-to-ceiling windows expose the colorful tapestries of rolling hills, elegant high ceilings and open floor plan, fully exposed kitchen: unlike any other) is excellent, and yet not over the top. Service is exceptional (honestly, sometimes a bit too good). Food is incredible.

This is one of the few places I recommend sitting at the sushi bar in order to get access to watch the artisans at work, and gain even more from the custom creations they will prepare upon request. Plus, this is the best place to see and smell the other chefs in action too.

Even after living on Oahu for more than 10 years, here I tried types of fish I had not seen anywhere else. On Oahu, we were so sad to see the oceanfront Morimoto's location leave The Modern (boutique hotel) - thinking nothing could rival that - and this one does.

Akin to my favorite Roy's at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach, this location is simply special...in ways that can only be experienced, rather than described. Have a bite of Hamachi for me when you visit: enjoy!

I witnessed from the front a worker preparing desserts with their bare hands. While they were doing this, they were cleaning crumbs off the counter, with their bare hands. After that, they proceeded to clean their hands on their apron and returning to prepare desserts ... with their bare hands! No gloves used or hands washed. Gross to see. Walked out.

Outstanding food and great atmosphere! Service was fantastic. We didn’t have reservations, but they were able to squeeze us in. Everything we ate was delish, but I probably wouldn’t order the tuna tartare again unless I was planning to eat it solo. The Rock Shrimp Tempura was like heaven in every bite.

So delicious! We had carpaccio, double order because it was so good! And then pork chop (split for two was perfect). Great meal and amazing service in a beautiful location in Napa. Treat yourself and go!
