Description: Located in the heart of downtown Napa's West End District, the Norman Rose Tavern is that comfortable spot where you can meet family and friends for a nice cocktail, pint or glass of wine paired with a great burger and fries or other classic, American comfort food. The menu takes a local, sustainable approach to time-honored dishes like fish & chips, fried chicken, chop salad, mac and cheese, and much more, all prepared utilizing the fresh, seasonal and quality ingredients found in the North Bay. The design offers a rustic pub feel with modern touches created by Kimberly Nunn and Dan Worden of Shopworks in Napa. The thoughtful beverage list sports a collection of cocktails, wines and beers that soar two or three levels above most, with many outstanding and well priced Napa Valley wines. The by-the-glass list is impressive as well with over twenty wines by the glass. An extensive spirits list featuring classic cocktails round out the offerings.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed January 9, 2011

We live in the Bay Area and visit the Napa Valley wine country frequently. There are many excellent restaurants to choose from. Today we chose Norman Rose Tavern based on a review from a recent issue in Sunset Magazine. It's certainly a step up in decor, atmosphere and menu from your regular "tavern" but that's about it. The food was over-priced and the service was just okay. My burger ordered well-done came oozing blood. When I showed the waitress, she said it wasn't her fault and took it back to the kitchen. It was returned to me still pink, which is not well-done. The waitress took it back to the kitchen again. Well, as you can imagine, when I finally got my three-time cooked burger back, my husband was pretty much done eating. What killed the experience; however, was that there was no offer of a price adjustment. A respectable restaurant would have offered a discount or even my burger for free. Next time, we'll head to one of the other many restaurants.

“High quality tavern”
Reviewed August 22, 2010

Mmmm... we had a superb lunch here and after spying a colourful mass of fruit/vegetable on the table next to us, we found out that we too, could have the amazing heirloom tomato salad with nectarines made special by the chef here. It was delectable. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lamb burger. The fare is usual pub type offerings but of upscale and gourmet taste and presentation . We were very happy to have had lunch here after other gastronomical delights at Allergri and Morimotos. The service was friendly and efficient. There is seating on the patio. The location is at the end of First Street near the new Avia hotel. Parking is free throughout Napa's downtown which was great.

This is a new Pub/restaurant in downtown napa (opened earlier this year). The food was good and so was the service. The ambience is that of a modern pub as opposed to a traditional pub.
