“Very good but not excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

Excellent means exceptional. Silverado is very nice but not unique or exceptional. I love places where every detail seems to matter. I consider that a prerequisite for an "excellent" rating. The condo we stayed in appeared to have been recently but not lovingly renovated. The furniture was nice, all was very clean - as it should be. The bed was very comfortable. The robe was nicer than most. The staff was quite food. However.... The kitchen sink faucet was improperly installed as was the wobbly toilet. Someone wasn't sweating the details. The food was nice but not really special. We stayed here for a business group meeting and it was probably a good choice for that kind of thing. If I were paying for a place in the area on my own and paying for a high end place, I'd probably extend my search a little further.

Room Tip: Our condo overlooked the putting green. Nice but a little busy. We heard of others overlooking the...

My husband and I attended an academic conference at the resort from March 19-23. We stayed in a cottage (condo) which had a full kitchen and spacious bedroom and living room. It was quiet, well appointed and the place was very clean. What a treat to attend a special event hosted by the hotel featuring about 25 vineyards along the Silverado Trail! We met some of the great sales and catering staff members who were gracious and so accommodating. Special thanks to Kristie, Berenice, Sherry and Sandy for including us in this event.
It was especially fun to meet many of the owners of the vineyards at the event and to taste some magnificent wines, all of very high quality. We followed up with visits to some of the vineyards and purchased some great bottles. Many thanks to Kristie Hrobsky for the free tasting passes.
The only disappointment was the golf course. They had sanded the greens so the conditions were marginal and they did not offer a discount on the golf!

This is one of the most beautiful places to stay in Napa. You are treated very well at this resort. The staff will bend over backward to make your stay enjoyable. Almost didn't want to leave the resort to go wine tasting!

It was also close to downtown where there are lots of restaurants and Oxbow Public Market. The service was excellent, especially Art, the concierge. He was very helpful in helping me plan our days at the wineries and various restaurants. The room, a standard room, was very clean and roomy. It was very close to the golf driving range, practice area and clubhouse so it was very easy to get everywhere. The Grill had good food and service. We ate there for breakfast and a dinner. The service was very good. This is a very pretty and relaxing place to stay while in Napa. Unfortunately, we are not spa people, but it looked very nice. My husband enjoyed the golf courses.

The Silverado is a historic, sprawling property that includes a semi-famous golf course. The scenery and ambiance is excellent. The restaurant and bar area is nice and food service is above average. If golf is a big part of your life then I recommend a visit. Due to a limitation in other activities (other than visiting wineries) I don't think it's worth a non-golf-related visit unless you're looking for peace and quite only.

This historic property is fast becoming the premiere location for Napa based excursions once again! Whether those excursions take you to wineries or simply to bask in the spa, golf or old world charm of Silverado the options are limitless. It did not take long to see and experience the epic renovations that are occurring and the vision of this will certainly deliver exceptional results. One thing that is remarkable already...? The front line staff delivering on their service promise whether that was Genero at the Front Desk or Francisco in The Grill they are sure to give you more than a smile but will share secrets and build a relationship to ensure your success with whatever brings you to Napa. I know it was true for me.

Raise a glass Silverado, I cannot wait to see the finished product of all your hard work!

Many thanks for your wonderful review of the Silverado Resort. These are the types of 5-star experiences we hope all guests can take away from the Resort while staying with us. I am also very pleased to read about your interactions with our associates, particularly Gennero and Francisco. This will be something we will share with them as I am sure they will be thrilled to read that you singled them out for their exceptional service.

As you noted, we have made many positive changes here at the Resort already, with many more to come that we can be confident in knowing our guests will be pleased with.

We will look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Warm Regards,

We stayed at the resort only one night but my wife and I enjoyed a couples massage we were in heaven great massage therapists. We enjoyed lunch at the Grill and if we had more time we would have loved trying out the north course where the Fry's .com will be played in October we will defiantly try to get back for that

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Silverado Resort and Spa is a luxury resort in the heart of the world-famous Napa Valley Wine Country. Whether you come to the Northern California area for relaxation, adventure or business, find it here. Located just an hour north of San Francisco, Silverado is tucked away from the city while still being close to the Bay Area action. The soothing, full-service spa sets the stage for relaxing comfort, offering massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and more. But there's more to Silverado Resort and Spa than just soothing stays. Two PGA championship golf courses, which are overseen by World Golf Hall of Fame member, lead golf analyst for NBC Sports, and resort co-owner Johnny Miller, 13 lighted tennis courts, and biking and hiking trails on-site ensure excitement at every corner. And thanks to its Napa Valley Wine Country location, it's all close to more than 400 wineries. The fine and casual dining within the resort's restaurants pair nicely with local wines. The elegant styling and picturesque Northern California views makes it one of the most sought after wedding venue destinations as well. Or you can simply take it all in from the patio of the newly opened Market and Bakery, strategically situated at the front of our historical Mansion, while you enjoy a coffee and pastry in the morning or a glass of Napa Valley wine while sitting at the edge of our fire pit in the evening. It's all designed to ensure the authentic Napa Valley Wine Country stay for any and all visitors. ... more   less
