“Overall not a good experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2011

I've never asked to change rooms before but did so when shown our first room. It had an fireplace that was poorly ventilated. I knew the smell would probably keep me up all night, so I asked for a different room; had same issue. Finally settled for a room w/out fireplace which was ok. However room still outdated. Lastly it was difficult to locate key ice machine. Overall it was difficult to navigate the resort.

This supposedly 5 star resort was terrible. The staff were friendly and professional. However, the first night's deposit was charged at $53 more than booked.
Our room was the size of a handkerchief. There was barely space to open two suitcases. The noise from the people in the unit above suggested there was no insulation between units. The noise from our own air conditioner was so loud we turned the TV volume up 8 points just to be able to hear the programs. It was certainly too noisy to be able to sleep.
And finally don't be fooled by the room prices quoted on the internet. There is a mandatory resort fee of $20-22 a night

Room Tip: Don't accept any room in the 600 series

This place was not bad. We stayed here one night during our Napa wine trip. The room was clean, but a little outdated. We felt like we were in the 70's or early 80's. The other problem is that it is really spread out so you have long walks to take all the time. The offer a little shuttle but it sometimes took very long (20min) til the shuttle showed up.
And the last thing, there are tons of kids. We tried to go to the pool but it was pretty much owned by the kids. So, if you have kids it's a great place, but if you are a couple and looking for something romantic, go somewhere else.

We live only 90 minutes from Silverado and love to stay there when we visit the Napa Valley. The hotel is so comfortable and has a very genteel feeling to it. The cottages are so well appointed. Having a small kitchen to have a quick breakfast makes it perfect for us. The size of the rooms are large so you don't feel crowded. Having a view of the golf course from the living room and bedroom was so pleasant. The Grill had a very nice lunch menu and service was great. The Spa is beautiful. Honestly, it's one of the best places to just get away and relax and doesn't cost too much.

Room Tip: Gr. floor overlooking the golf course is best

A little bit deceiving.. I originally thought the rooms were in the "mansion". In reality, you check in at the white house, get back in your car and drive to your room. Quite a walk to get to our room. Good thing it wasn't raining because its an open area.

Rooms are outdated but served their function -- king bed, small bathroom, no fridge. I do like the mirrored closet. Girls love to check out their outfits. ;)

Breakfast was delicious! Toast, french toast, bacon, eggs benedict (but with salmon instead of ham!), cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt, etc.

I'm mixed on this place. While we did have a good night sleep on a very comfortable bed and a great shower in the morning (with several shower heads pointing at us!), the overall experience wasn't a 4 star feeling. I'd give it two or three stars, because the property, although old, still is located in a great part of Napa and they have a lot of beautiful landscaping and some nice touches in the rooms.

The big disappointment here, however, is the staff. They could care less about the experiences you have in your room . . . I tried telling the gal at the front desk about the fact that our TV didn't work the whole time we were there, and all she could care about was making certain that we got dinged for a $20-a-day "resort fee." Hey, I don't understand these BS resort fees anyway . . . why don't they just jack up the rate? How impressive is it to find out at the end that you owe money for something that is supposed to cover the "resort" aspects of your stay?

Anyway, put aside the nasty people at the front desk and the broken TV and such, and we still had a good nights sleep and got to see beautiful Napa at a fair price. I would ONLY book this resort if you are getting some kind of bargain on an internet site and stay clear of booking this for a convention unless you look through EVERY room, because they are all individually owned and there is a great difference in quality. Once your attendees book, you know they will not be looked after by quality help from the front desk, so caveat emptor!

Our trip to Napa was highlighted by our stay at this amazing property. The staff were professional, courteous, pleasant and knowledgeable, especially Ms. Ortiz at the Front Desk. We were astonished by the beauty and serenity of the property and we truly felt like VIPs everywhere we went. There is no winery on the property but for wine tasting we popped right across the street to tour both the William Hill and Del Dotto wineries. We also toured several other wineries just minutes away and our overall experience was phenomenal. Thank you to the Silverado and its staff for making this trip to Napa one of the most romantic, pleasurable and memorable get-aways ever!
