Food was delicious just not what I was expecting. A bit expensive for what we ordered.

Nice location, pet-friendly, BBQing oysters is fun, but the location is a hard drive to get to. Get there before 11AM to be assured a table during the high season weekends.

They have great oysters BUT that is really all they have. The better bet is to get oysters there and salad at another place in the market and empanadas at another. There is a great bar in the middle the bartender will give you a tasting before you buy. Enjoy. Oh! I forgot the cupcakes..... Get the mini special and have a little of 4 or 5 cupcakes.

Visited the Oxbow Marketplace yesterday in the city of Napa and stopped by the Hog Island Oyster Company restaurant, located inside the Marketplace. I'm a huge fan of Tomales Bay oysters (located north of San Francisco, on the Pacific Coast Highway) and pulled up to the bar for a half dozen oysters (Tomales Bay Sweetwater) and wine. I noticed that people were loving the clam chowder and saw the cook grill oysters on the BBQ right in front of me. My oysters were fresh shucked and delicious. Accompanying the oysters, I ordered a glass of 2010 Kopriva Chardonnay from Carneros. When the waitress informed me the wine was unoaked, I told her "Even better!"
I'm a huge fan of unoaked Chardonnay and Kopriva's Chardonnay comes from the cool climate of the Carneros region. The wine proved to be crisp and minerally and well balanced, with a perfect level of acidity usually found in crisp Burgundy whites. A perfect match for the fresh briny oysters! The service was very attentive, and the oysters were accompanied by pieces of artisanal style bread, accompanied by butter. My advice: skip the butter, and dip the bread into the vinagrette/shallot/parsley sauce that's served with the oysters! Tues & Weds, 5:00 - 7:00. Chef's choice half-priced oysters on the half-shell (selection changes weekly), beer and wine specials. Not an oyster fan? The menu has a terrific assortment of other yummy eats! Worth the visit!!
