We were "upgraded" into the Roma suite for our anniversary trip. We barely saw Celeste when we checked-in. We came at 3:30, but the door to the inn was locked, so we went on a wine tour and left her a message that we needed to check in. When we got there, she was there, but brief with us. Told us that she'd go over everything we needed the next morning and gave us our key. When we entered our room it was stifling hot. Since we didn't know where Celeste was we couldn't complain about the A/C unit that just spit out a tiny bit of air. After awhile, the A/C unit then would overheat and drip water everywhere so we couldn't even get the tiny bit of air we were getting for awhile. It was an ongoing battle with the A/C unit all night long We didn't sleep but 4 hours at the most because we were so uncomfortable. When we checked out the next morning and told her daughter about the unit she apologized and told us it's old with a shrug of her shoulders as she took our money.
No plans on returning to this B&B again!!

In response to It's getting Hot, when reservations are placed with us we do our best to accommodate all arrival times. Our official check-in is 3:30-6:30 pm. Should a guest arrive earlier, we provide them with our extensive self guided wine tour and try and direct them to wineries/places to visit in the interim. This is explained in the tour tasting packet , personalized arrival note and during the reservation process. This year in Sept/Oct. we hit unseasonably very hot temperatures that are more typical of the June/July months. In this case, all air conditioners were on 24/7. All air conditioners were checked after the comment and working fine, but thank you for the flag, it helps us with ongoing maintanence.
We offer a reception each evening where guests can gather , meet and speak with us about dinner plans, and reservations that we have pre-arranged. If a guest is only staying one night, and they are enjoying the valley, dinner, and have a short time to spend, then we try and communicate during the scheduled B&B reception and breakfast time.
Accessibility to the innkeeper, we have a private area to the back of the dining room with a large gold sign that says Private knock for innkeeper. Many times guests knock and welcome themselves into the area, which is fine. We also reside here at the B&B so we are very near our guests and available. We are sorry to have upgraded the room, perhaps we should have kept the original plan. We are also sorry for the mechanical difficulty encountered with the air and also the unseasonal hot temps of the Napa Valley. We are glad the guests did enjoy the many complimentary wine tastings , as this is a quite a value in waived tasting fees. We welcome you back so we can try again, we like our guests to enjoy and be happy.
Sincerely,
Celeste Carducci

This is a wonderful B&B!!! The ~1880 era house is in wonderful condition. It is within walking distance to downtown Napa. Celeste, the owner & innkeeper, will guide you to fine dinners and great wineries. The rooms feature comfy beds, high ceilings, period furnishings, and A/C for modern comfort on those warm evenings. Celeste often hosts evening wine tastings in addition to full breakfasts. We have stayed here several times over many years and keep coming back. Its that good! Highly recommended.
