Owner description: William Hill Estate is renowned for crafting elegant Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot wines due to its exceptional location just off the Silverado Trail in southern Napa Valley on the rolling hills of the Silverado Bench. William Hill founded this Estate Winery in 1978, purchasing 200 acres of which 140 acres are planted to vine. Once classic in style, winemaker Ralf Holdenried has successfully transitioned our wines to a more refined and sophisticated style with fruit intensity and layers of complexity. Ralf's innovative and progressive approach to grape growing and winemaking enhances the unique style of our Napa Valley wines.

My wife and I discovered this winery while looking for things to do in Napa. During the summer, they have a monthly Sunset Picnic from 5:30-8:30pm. Open to club members AND the public, we made a reservation and made plans for a picnic. We arrived early, but they were already prepared as we were greeted by a hostess and offered a tasting of their new release Chardonnay. We were then escorted to our reserved table (Adirondack chairs, small table and an umbrella for couples and larger tables for groups). We walked around, enjoyed the views, visited, and ate as the sun slowly began to set. Their wine was good and we enjoyed a bottle with our picnic dinner. Unknown to us, we could have brought and BBQ'd our own meat as well. We'll be prepared next time. It was a beautiful and romantic evening that I'd recommend for next summer!

I was looking for a scenic vineyard not too far off the highway that would allow us to bring picnic food. William Hill was perfect. We went on a Tuesday morning, so we were the only ones there for most of our tasting.

They have chairs and small tables overlooking the vineyards that are perfect for picnics. While we ate our food they leisurely brought out our glasses of wine to taste.

You do have to make a reservation, but it's well worth it. I would also recommend going to the nearby Oxbow Public Market for picnic food before heading here!

This winery was a beautiful setting, the tastings must be arranged in advance but it is well worth it and the wine was divine. The olive oil was the best I have ever tasted, loved the stories behind the winery and the attention to running the winery green.

This was my groups first stop for the day (we made it to four wineries that day). Since it was the weekend before Memorial Day weekend we did not anticipate too many crowds overall, however when we arrived at this winery we were told that reservations were required in order to do a full wine tasting. I did see several couples enjoying a glass or bottle of wine in the seating outside, however at that moment (and consequentially for the next hour) there were no customers that came to do wine tastings.

Despite this unnecessary setback, we were given the option to buy a bottle of wine and enjoy it on the property. This is the only wine that I can provide feedback on since we were not given the opportunity to enjoy a full tasting. My group chose the 2010 Chardonnay and it was a great way to start wine tasting for the day - crisp, clean and very good! The outdoor seating was very pleasant and the views extraordinary while peaceful.

In addition, the employees did provide my group a map of most wineries in the area - this was really helpful because the wineries that didn't require reservations for tastings were annotated with a different color than those that did require reservations. It turns out the remaining wineries we planned to visit that day did not require reservations.

The one wine that was tasted and the overall atmosphere was good, but the customer service would have topped the experience especially considering the venue was not busy.
