I rented this entire house, upstairs and downstairs, to have a family Christmas gathering with in-laws and family. The house is roomy and lovely. The wraparound terrace is wonderful to sit at and watch spectacular sunset. The house is in the walking distance of Murphys Main Street with restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and shops. We even found one single brewery that served awesome sandwiches. If I owned this house, I would spend some money to update the kitchen to do justice to the rest of the house. The amenities for someone like me, who loves to cook and be hospitable, were lacking. For instance, there was no family-sized casserole dish--just two or three small ones. My table looked messy with those. There was not a middle-sized pan--either huge ones or tiny ones. Those are useless. A couple of mid-sized pans are a must. One of the two ovens works better than the other one. I stuck a Christmas ham in at 350 for two hours, plus, and served it cold! The next day, I used the oven below the stove, and that one was fine. These are just recommendations to improve minor details and turn this into a dream rental.
I thought we were just booking a standard house, someplace to crash in after we went out of town. We ended up rarely leaving the house. From the porch, you feel like you're in the castle of the neighborhood, overlooking the nice gardens, the neighbor's farm, and much of the town. Inside, the house is about 50% living room/kitchen, which is perfect for entertaining. It's a big lot (with a little walking path for the upper garden), the beds are super-comfy, the house is really well stocked (and labeled), we got a free bottle of wine and a nice note when we checked in, etc. etc. etc. I would definitely book here again.
