Great place to stay in Murphys! The rooms are generally pretty small, but very tastefully done. In fact, if I had to sum up the Victoria Inn in one word, it would be: Tasteful.

The rooms are a decent value: not cheap at ~$200, but you get what you pay for. It's a small place and we were there when there were almost no other guests, so it might feel a bit different if it were full or near-full. But as it was, it was quiet, comfortable, and (once again) tasteful.

The continental breakfast was fine; you can eat out on the deck (not much room in the little sitting room off the lobby).

No TV's in the room, which I like (no noise from other people watching too loud!). My only complaint was that the (free!) wifi didn't quite reach to our room. Maybe I'll suggest how to fix it (in exchange for some free nights!).

My friend and I came to Murphys to the "Passport Weekend". We decided to stay at the Victoria Inn especially because of the location to plenty of wine tasting rooms. The town itself is charming! So was the inn! I stayed in the Tapestry Room and my friend stayed in the Goldsfield Room. Both were $129 (least expensive rooms) at the inn. We did get a AAA rate also. The rooms were decorated very nice. Also a very small balcony in each overlooking the outside dining area. Bathrooms consisted of nice toiletries and claw foot tubs/shower. Since it was a very busy weekend, the evening was alittle noisy since we were right over the restaurant/kitchen area along with outside diners. But that is to be expected on Passport Weekend! Alot of people laughing and having a good time. The morning continental breakfast was set out in the lobby and the guest living room area. Great coffee, tea, juices, bagels, lox, scones, fruit, yogurts were served. It was a very nice stay and a friendly place. Also to note, the "V" restaurant a the inn was quite delicious (although on the pricey side) .

Very classy & spacious Loft suite at the quiet end of town.....large kitchen, fireplace, very comfy bed and veranda overlooking quaint creek and Main Street. We have stayed here many times and always come back - we are never disappointed in the service and the ambiance. Murphys is a delightful town .......Eat at "V" restaurant in the Inn..
sshhhh - it's a secret!

We just returned from a stay at the Victoria Inn. We had liked the sounds of it as a quiet little night away. Wrong!!

We checked in and found the room to be extremely tiny, with an even smaller deck. Really, no reason to even have a deck of this size! The room had decent furnishings but stains on the chair and bed spread. It just sort of felt dirty. The person who checked us in said that the wireless internet really did not go far past the lobby, so basically don't expect it in our room. Also, we had to share a thermostat in the hall with the room next door. We prefer sleeping in a cooler room, but obviously they wanted it warm as it was turned up after we turned it down. Also, no tv...that's fine, but just adding it in here.

We had a very pleasant dinner down the street at 489 Restaurant. When we returned, we discovered that our room must have been over the restaurant kitchen, as there was so much noise, it was hard to sleep (we didn't). Finally it quieted down, but then the heater that we didn't want kept going on and off all night (very noisy), and by 6am the kitchen was busy again as it woke us up! We woke up exhausted..not what you expect from a night in a country inn!

The cons greatly outweigh the pros of the inn, and it was quite a disappointing stay. Next time, it is back to the Dunbar House!!

We stayed in the Eucalyptus suite which is in a seperate building/cottage behind the hotel. It was expensive (about $300 a night), but well worth it. It is sometimes used as the bridal suite. The room was large with a sitting area, a fireplace and bookcase alcove. The bed was a king four poster with a comfortable mattress and lovely linens. There was also a large bathroom with whirlpool tub and shower. The best part? No television and no telephone. There was a little ethereal experience with what seemed like a ghostly presence. Perfectly harmless. I confirmed this with another couple whom stayed at the inn in the past. The only drawbacks: lack of parking and the noise from the restaurant; especially early in the morning.

I brought my husband to the Victoria Inn as a surprise for his birthday. When I reserved our stay, I booked the Tapestry room, one of the smaller and more affordable rooms. When we arrived, the Inn was pretty vacant (it was a Monday) so they so graciously upgraded us to the Wisteria Cottage...a HUGE upgrade! The room (or suite) was gorgeous and we were so grateful that they upgraded us. It made for a fantastic night! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and we loved how the Inn was located right in the heart of downtown. This is a fabulous hotel and we will definitely be coming back!
