“Not worth the stop”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

I have tried Hillbillies more than once hoping they would get better, but it has not happened. I have a friend that wanted to try it and so I went with him. His comment was what a waste of money. Back to the old coffee shop in Angles Camp for our monthly breakfast meeting. Nice people that own and run the place, but the food is just not that good. Not a very good value for the money when we have other places in town to eat with higher quality food for about the same price.

“Very average food with friendly staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2012

Had breakfast here early on a Monday morning. It was pretty quiet. Appears as though many locals dine here. There was a large party of utility workers as well as a couple of singles dining at this time. The food was very average. They did keep our coffee cups full. The waitress was friendly. We had the Belgian waffle with an egg and bacon. Nothing special. The decor is cowboy. The restaurant is easy to find, it is in sight of Hwy 4.

“Skip this place !!!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2012

We ate there on a Sunday morning and it was pretty busy with tourists such as us. The interior and exterior match the name..it is quaint and hillbilly. Thought we'd get an actual homestyle breakfast.....noooo way.

The food was pretty awful !! When you order hash BROWNS, you expect them to have some BROWN on them but not these....pure white frozen shredded potatoes. They were barely even cooked, luke warm and no seasoning at all. I had a breakfast with sausage patty, egg and gravy over sourdough...ugh !!!!!! The bread was a soggy mess (not toasted at all) the gravy was bland and the sausage made my stomach upset the entire day.

My husband had a unique omelette of chicken fried steak. Now the omelette was actually good but NO butter on his cold hard toast and his potatoes weren't even warm better yet hashBROWNS.....they were literally all white.....nasty tasting.

It was within walking distance of where we were staying...wish we would have walked the other way.

“Recommended by others - not by us”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2012

Our group of six was really looking forward to a great breakfast and Hillbillies came with high recommendation. Unfortunately, it was just average. We were daring and ordered frog's legs...very greasy. The grilled "lid" on the sourdough breakfast bowl tasted rancid. Our other breakfasts were fine, but, nothing special. Even though the service was excellent and the accommodations very interesting, we won't go back.
