My wife is a quilter so we decided to take in the Quilt Faire held at Ironstone Vineyards. The winery sponsors various events throughout the year and this one was a winner. Over 100 quilts, wall hangings, dolls along with many vendors both in the quilting area and crafts were on hand to sport their craft. Be sure and don't miss this next year as it is outstanding!

We came here after hearing a suggestion for the tour. We expected a nice tour to see how the wine was made, but instead were shown a tour of the grounds and barely any wine making facilities. In fact, I don't think they make wine here at all (or very limited amounts). I have been on other winery tours and enjoyed seeing the machinery in action, but there was none to be seen here. (we peeked inside a door to see dusty bottling equipment not in use.

A fake "cave" with storage of barrels was unimpressive and the guide wanted to talk more about the facilities available on site than anything else. It was almost like being on a timeshare sales pitch!

If you want to see a very pretty garden and a large chunk of gold, stop by, but we don't suggest going out of your way to get here.

Even if you are not a wine drinker, this is a great place to visit. The flowers are beautiful every season of the year. The museum is interesting as well. I even like lunch at the snack bar. There is also wine tasting available. I live near here and visit it a few times each year with both family and friends.

Ironstone is about a mile outside Murphys. The Kautz family spent a LOT of money on the facility. The two story main building has a large tasting area with a long bar, a merchandise area and a deli area with seating. Downstairs is a large kitchen and seating area where they do cooking classes and wedding receptions. Then there are at least 3 or 4 acres of well manicured grounds including a large amphitheater, an area designed for weddings (often 2 a day in the summer) and several nice walks with ponds and little creeks. I would go for the grounds and maybe a sandwich and maybe try their wines. But don't expect much. Ironstone is into volume rather than quality. Steve Milliare is their wine maker doing the best he can with the bulk grapes he is given. If you want quality wines go back to Murphys with their 18 tasting rooms at last count including Steve's Milliare winery.

Wow, very impressive! We went there in July for a wedding. The grounds were impeccable. Very well maintained, very beautiful. The setting was under a huge oak tree. Very well lit at night. The food was excellent. The wine was great. Overall a great experience.
