Many, many years ago, I visited a Japanese restaurant in SFO and was offered a full course dinner that included a soup and many other things I did not understand. We sat down on floor pillows and a waitress dressed in a Kimono came and started cooking. I kept asking for the soup that was offered but not served. But then, when the food was gone, the waitress got a spoon to get the soup from where she boiled the meat and vegetables. Then I learned why in a shabu shabu dinner soup is served at the end! So back to Shabuway. They specialize in this way of Japanese cooking. They do serve excellent meat, thinly sliced and perfect for shabu shabu. They even have Kobe beef! All vegetables are very fresh and the sauces delicious! Aside being healthy, shabu shabu it is tasty!

Shabu-shabu is quite popular in Japan, and Shabuway provides a nice, authentic version here. The food is excellent, the ambience is clean, modern and nice. If you've ever had shabu-shabu, you won't be disappointed; if you never have, you owe it to yourself to check Shabuway out.

Traditional Shabu place. Attentive and pleasant staff, fast service, and good food. Suggest getting beef and pork, and since I love the mushrooms, got an extra plate of those. Fun to go with friends. Reminds me of Singapore Hot Pot places. I would definitely go back.

It's just really really good. The quality of the beef and lamb were excellent but what really made it was their spicy broth. The price was pretty good too (I spent much more to have an awful meal at Vasso Azzurro down the street). Service etc was all very good.

First, the hot pot here is incredible! I loved the spicy miso dip. I don't even normally like spicy things, but that was delicious! The kobe beef was excellent. You owe it to yourself to eat here, especially if you haven't had hot pot before.

The reservation system is insane though. If you call ahead you automatically go in front of anyone that has been waiting. In theory this sounds ok, in practice here is what happened:

Another group of coworkers waited an hour and a half for their table. They arrived and were told it would be 20 minutes. But, a ton of people called right after they arrived and so every person that called went ahead of them in the queue. It's an awful, awful system. If you are coming here make sure that you call ahead!

Also, the service was pretty pour. They were ok at filling the dip basins, but getting refills on drinks was a pain and we spent at least half an hour trying to get the check.
