We stopped for a night at this hotel because our first choices were taken. It was a bit difficult to find but once we got settled it was a super room and very clean. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was just the usual but we enjoyed our stay in comfort. A bit pricey compared to other great hotels we have stayed at but that must be because of location.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. However, getting there was like going through a sauna. For some reason, the heat in the hotel seems to be on high all the time. I was dripping sweat just standing at the front desk to check in (and out), and going out into the hall from our room was like entering a blast furnace! Actually, even going into our room for the first time was unpleasantly hot. Thank goodness the room air conditioner functioned so well! The breakfast room was also very hot. While the hotel staff was pleasant, we were not given any information about the hotel, nor was there any info in the folder in the room. At the least, there could have been a typed sheet with breakfast hours, tv stations, etc. Would I stay there again? Probably.

Huge rooms, very convenient location right in Mountain View, quiet and in very good condition. Comfortable beds, looks to be recently renovated - standard Quality Inn breakfast. Breakfast room was somewhat cramped.

A business colleague and I need a place to stay for a week to visit clients in San Francisco, South San Francisco and Sunnyvale. This is a good value basic place to stay, nice rooms, nice location, nice staff.

The term suite is actual a pretty standard hotel room with a wall to give you a lounge area and bedroom area. The free breakfast was a standard offering but ok for those of us who don't eat a lot at breakfast. WiFi was free and adequate.

Its a short drive to the town where there are mainly non chain restaurants (which is a nice change !).

Room Tip: Pretty quiet place so all rooms would be goo.

A basic business hotel, so nothing special but no complaints. The room was everything it needed to be: two big beds, desk, TV, air-con (very efficient) etc, etc, and quiet. Breakfast was . . . well, not a triumph of the culinary art, but it was adequate, just.

Made a last minute reservation at Quality Inn - worked out well. Spacious room with two queen beds. Fast check-in. Decent breakfast (I like waffle machines). Negatives - WiFi was problematic - couldn't get on when checked in that night ... eventually switched over to Google Wifi, but could get on in the morning. Also, bathroom fan was loud. But those are just nits.

First of all, the full name of this place is Quality Inn & Suites at NASA Ames (which is just across the 101 freeway from the hotel).
We've stayed here many times, since we're usually visiting nearby family. Like many lodgings in the Silicon Valley, they're busy during the week and slower on weekends. And their rates reflect this difference, higher during the week, lower on weekends...when it appears most of the staff slack off. We've stayed here on busy weekdays when the place is jumping and the front desk and breakfast crew show more spunk. On the weekends, although the front desk personnel do respond to your presence, you sometimes get the feeling you're taking them away from something.
We've usuallly stayed in the same favorite room and when we mention it, they can pull up our records on the computer and take care of us. This time, they said they had a new system installed and we weren't on it. The woman on the front desk told us our preferred room wasn't available (although we never saw anyone go near it!). There was nothing wrong with the room we got (especially since we only used it for sleeping), but I got the feeling the desk person didn't really care. Maybe they tried to keep lodgers closer inn to aid the housekeeping crew?
The previous night we stayed at a Quality Inn in Arcata (see review) and much of the decor is the same from one Quality Inn to the other. The linens were better here, but the staff wasn't. In Arcata, the front desk people were welcoming, always smiling and personable. In Mountain View, they were stoic, looked uninterested and bored.
As for the breakfast crew...it's time to send them back to training. My wife and I were the only guests in the breakfast area. In checking the wafflemaker, I found half a waffle still cooking in it. I asked the attendant if someone left it in there and she said it was hers. First time I ever had to wait for hotel staff to finish before guests could use the wafflemaker. Not that there wasn't other things for her to do. The juice jug was empty, my wife had to ask if they had bananas (they did, but they were in back) and there were exactly three lonely sausages in the serving pan (there was another hour to go in the breakfast time). While we ate we saw the staff continue to get their own food. Other guests came in, but none of the foods/drinks were refilled unless someone asked if there was any more. Was this just a weekend crew? Or are they like this all the time? I don't remember ever having these complaints before.
Housekeeping was efficient, but knocking on our door at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday seemed a bit too much in a hurry.
The hotel is still a good deal, considering the rates at Hampton Inn and Courtyard, etc. But I might check around next time and see if I can't do better.

Room Tip: We always ask for a room toward the rear, away from the front, which faces on the freeway. The desk...
