During the past decade have stayed at this hotel multiple times. The friendliness of service and the quality and cleanliness have been very consistent over the years. The hotel follows the standard formula of the HGI chain, so if you have stayed at one of their hotels before, you know what you can expect. Features I particularly like are: a) the rooms are faily large, b) each room comes with a fridge, microwave and coffee/tea maker, c) the desk is of decent size if you got work to do and the desk chair actually is very comfortable, as good or better as most chairs in full-time offices. The hotel has a small fitness room, but it is well equipped with modern Precor machines (cross-trainer, treadmill, stationary bike, weights). Normally it has a small pool and jacuzzi, but due to major renovation of the lobby area both presently are closed. To compensate for that the hotel offers free full breakfast until the construction is completed (expected in mid-March).
A word on pricing: During the week this hotel is largely frequented by business travellers, while during the weekend reunions, junior sports team etc. are the main crowd. Accordingly, the rates on Mon-Thu are much higher than those on Fri-Sun (double or more). If you book for a period including both parts, e.g. Thu-Mon, the higher rate is applied to the entire stay. Thus, it may be wise to split your booking with one covering the Mon-Thu and one the Fri-Sun nights. This will save you a lot of money.

Was visiting Mountain View office in November with several coworkers. Excellent location with lots of restaurants on the street. New ate breakfast here every morning and everything was very fresh. Staff was alway helpful and always smiled.

The Hotel lobby was being renovated, which I knew before I arrived. Other than that, everything was top-notch, as expected. Friendly, clean and conveniently located to great dining (Castro St) and entertainment (Performing Arts Center). Close to Stanford Medical Center and NASA Ames. Easy to get to.

I stayed for three nights in the Hilton Garden Inn after a horrible experience in Extended Stay America. It was my first time in Mountain View, so I did not know that good hotels will be fully booked one week in advance. That's why the only place I found available was Extended Stay America. It seemed decent based on reviews, rates were even higher than the Hilton and it was listed in my company's list of recommended places. Then I discovered a place that does not qualify for a hotel. I will skip the details here and post a dedicated review for them. One of my biggest concern with was the noise insulations. I managed to shorten my stay as soon as I found 3 nights available in the Hilton. I was contacted two days prior to my check in date informing me about the construction and renovation in the Hotel and welcoming any request. My only request was to have a quite room after 5 sleepless nights. When I checked in I found a note on my booking and I was placed in fourth floor in the last room in a corridor. Can't dream of better position. Then the room was excellent, clean, fresh, good quality furniture, nice TV and HD cable channels, very quite. Simply the standard I am used to in Europe for 4/5 stars hotels. Internet connection was good and relatively fast, around 7Mbit/s. Because the hotel is ongoing some renovation, the breakfast which is of good quality is offered for free. So if you are going for a business trip try to book in advance, I really recommend the Hilton, and don't do my mistake and stay away from Extended Stay America.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Proactive customer service was a great touch. Lobby and dining areas are under renovation which is a good thing because hotel looks dated. Free buffet breakfast had lots of hot and tasty options, and was free due to construction. Room was standard fare, with an ok bed. Temperature control unit was noisy and gurgled a lot which kept sleep at bay.

The hotel caters primarily to business travelers in the area. The check-in and check-out has been made incredibly simple and quick and this to was refreshing. The approach is straight forward, there is no concept of chargeable items in the room and that helps in billing and check-out. The rooms are spacious and comparable to the rest. The breakfast spread is more than decent

The one piece I wish was better is the wifi internet speed.

They are cheaper than the neighboring hotel and in my opinion better.

I've reviewed and given far higher marks to the hotel in the past than I can for last week. The hotel is renovating their kitchen/dining area and as a result are using 2 conference rooms to serve meals in. Whilst it was great I knew this going in (via a nice email from the Mgr beforehand), I didn't realise until I got woken up 3 of 4 nights there that my room was to i right across from those dining rooms. Banging, trolleys, hot/cold setups, etc from 0500 really weren't appreciated.

Sadly I didn't make the front desk staff aware of the final afternoon/night, where they apologised and offered me another room. I was too tired and jet lagged at that point to take them up so I cannot fault the management. I now wish I had complained on the very first evening so I could have been moved, but knowing that this property is always 100% booked I decided there would be little to no chance of a room.

However -- the management needs to keep a tight reign on the kitchen staff during this renovation time, as rooms 118-126 need to be avoided at all costs, or discounted by 50% due to the noise of the meal service, especially in the AM. It shouldn't come down to guests complaining to know that there are guest rooms across from the eating rooms, and to be considerate!

The rooms are great, the TV selection quite good, free WiFi quite nice, I will be back, but NOT until the renovations are done.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 118-126 until construction done!
