“Tired Rooms in a Great Location”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

Our dark room with tired decor had an excellent shower.

The above-average breakfast was served in a cheerful dining room.

The staff was unhelpful and distracted. The woman who checked me out didn't look at me or exchange any pleasantry.

Room Tip: Book a room with mountain view.

This is the best place to stay in Mt. Shasta. If you value a view, as I do, my advice is to pay a bit more and reserve a mountain-view room. Mt. Shasta, covered by snow, is soothing to see out your window. At times, it may be surrounded by clouds, but when the weather clears, you won't be disappointed. The three-story building in rear of the property has an elevator, and a rear entrance which is very convenient. The rooms seem quite spacious, with vaulted ceilings, while the lodge-like feel is carried out with a wood paneled wall and ceiling. The microwave and refrigerator in room are very convenient. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and certainly beyond the typical motel breakfast, including juices, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins, biscuits and gravy. The served coffee at your table is quite nice, and the wait staff are friendly and cheerful. The front desk staff were helpful, and did their best to meet guests needs (when the guest printer was out of order, they attempted to print airline boarding passes from their office printer.) The room was clean and quiet. There is an ironing board and a hair dryer in the room. I can't think of what more one could ask of a property. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: The third floor rooms have the best view of Mt. Shasta

After a ten hour driving day we arrived just after dark to find only one room left. It was a long weekend and apparently there was fresh snow at the nearby ski hill. Even though the rate with AAA discount was almost twice as much as other BW hotels we stayed at this trip we were very tired so decided to take it. For the price we expected an above average room but were disappointed. The TV was a relic and the room was cold. It soon warmed up with the heater on high but the heater was very noisy so we had to turn it off to sleep. Unfortunately the bedding was thin so not a comfortable night. On the plus side, the hotel staff persons were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. Maybe skiers wouldn't mind paying the premium price for this hotel but we wouldn't recommend it to other travellers and wouldn't plan to stop here again.

Stayed over Friday and Saturday Feb 17th - 18th. Have stayed here over 100 times over the past 25 years. The rooms are always clean and the staff is always in a good mood. The room includes a hot breakfast and I must say they have really improved the breakfast. The eggs were very good as was the biscuits and gravy. Hot tub and pool are maintained very well and the bar has a happy hour every day 3-6.

We stayed at the Tree House on our road trip down to California. The hotel is conveniently located off I5 and seems well run.
The reception area was beautifully decorated (we arrived on December 23rd), and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We got a spacious king bed room with view on the second floor. The large window looked straight to the mountain.
The room had all the amenities we needed (working fridge, microwave, coffee maker...). The bed was comfortable, shower had good water pressure, towels were fresh and plush, soap was creamy and had a yummy citrus smell.
Wifi was readily available and worked well.
The breakfast was above other Best Western standards, with lots of choices of cereal, fresh food, fruit juices, eggs, bacon, sausages, and waffles.
There is a grocery store in walking distance, and the main street of the town is just a couple of blocks away.
Although the hotel is close to the highway, you can't really hear any noise. The only noise we heard in the night was the train, but it didn't bother me (was faint enough).

So, this was a nice surprise for an overnight stay on our trip, and we'll come back.

Room Tip: Splurge on a room with a view.

The hotel was ideally located as close to I-5 and to the town. The hotel rooms are of a standard layout although they cleverly have doors to the garden areas and internally to allow you to travel about if the weather is inclement. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant which although not outstanding it was above average and a pleasant surprise.

My stay was 5 weeks while I worked in Mt. Shasta. And at first, living in a hotel would not have been my choice but that was decided by my employer. It worked out just fine with a nice staff and a super helpful day manager "Sandy" who let me move to a room I really wanted for a long stay. The view was great from the 3rd floor with my own balcony, I had a private gym everyday with a large flat screened TV, a laundry room, real eggs for breakfast and friendly waitresses, decent frig & microwave with a coffee maker, big pool area with a hot jacquzzi and a cozy fireplace in the lobby. When you can't have a fancy resort with a golf course this Best Western does exactly what it should. Many thanks to the staff !
