The Dream Inn is actually two b and b's in one---a restored Victorian and a period Spanish home, which had both been owned by the same family years ago. The inn is located just a block from downtown Mt. Shasta City and is set in lovely landscaped gardens which are carefully maintained by innkeeper David Ream, who with his partner, Lonna Smith, run the establishment like a well-loved family home and keep it spotlessly clean and tidy. I stayed in the Victorian house and enjoyed my pink-themed room. My room shared a comfortable bath, which included a wonderful velvet chaise lounge recliner a la Cleopatra! (There are also rooms with private baths). The inn is truly like a visit to grandma's, in thefinest small town tradition---oodles of knicknacks to look at, plenty of interesting photos, lots of books. breakfast was delicious and satisfying, and fuelled me up for my hikes on Mt. Shasta and at the McCloud river. The offerings of Mt. Shatsa city are easliy walkable---and the views of the mountain itself, visible from just about anywhhere in the immediate vicinity, are just stunning. During my visit, fall foliage was it its most colorful and glorious peak, with snow already on the upper reaches of the mountain. I look forward to a return visit!
