I live in the area and never get tired of the magnificent mountain. If you get a chance go to the shop called Srenity(sp) absolutely great selection of tea with well informed staff. Need a Christmas gift? Go across the street to Pomodoro. Lots to choose from.

This is an add on: the Stage bus connects Mt Shasta to Weed, Dunsmuir, Yreka (wallmart), McCloud and Lake Shastina, i only found it out when re-visiting Mt. Shasta this time. The trip towards Yreka is a senic ride, you can see two cones of the mountain, Shasta and Shastina, place themselves from side by side to one infront of the other , wonderful and magical. The schedule can be found at http://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us/GS/stageschedule.aspx Either a train to Dunsmuir or Grayhound to Weed can then transfer to the Stage bus but maybe a couple hours wait time in between, check the schedule. But if a car is needed you still need to rent one from Redding.

There is also a library for books, DVDs, and computer with free internet. From there you can take a walk to Sission Meadow, a little wildernes in the town, sit by the pond and enjoy the view of the mountain.

The Mt. Shasta is all covered by snow now, gorgeous, majestic and sacred. Numerous spiritual groups are running gathering of 12-12-12 and 12-21-12, (posters are at notice boards several places in twon), even the Mount Shasta Chamber of Commerce website has those days listed on their events calander.

Till now the snow is shoveled all the way to Bunny Flat, you can drive up and embrace Mt.Shasta….I've been staying here since Oct 2 rented a 1 bedroom at the base of the mountain, looking forward to the planetary shift, the reunion of our star brother and sisters.

“Love, to everyone, every being, they are every bit of God.”

Whether you feel Mount Shasta is a sacred mystical vortex or simply a gorgeous mountain, Panther Meadows will blow your mind with its beauty. The wildflowers and meandering spring are amazing. We were there during the full moon. Panther Spring is sacred to native people, so walk with care and experience the blessings.

I discovered Mt. Shasta last year. I went three times since then, and am planning to go again. The moutain, a dormant volcano stands alone in the middle of nowhere four hours from the bay area going north. It has quite a mystical aura, many people like to climb it in summer (it is not without risk), personally renting a place at the foot of the mountain and contemplating the beauty of the nature was enough for me. It was a nice spiritual retreat place. It is known in New age circle as a vortex or a special power place. I am not entirely sure about all the myths surrounding Mt. Shasta and there are plenty ! (UFO stories, ascended masters?)...but I can see why it inspires all sorts of myths. The downtown is quaint and charming. People are friendly. I stayed at the Dream Inn and rented a flat. They were very cool about my three dogs ! and made a fabulous breakfast. i would recommend this place if you like mountains, are in need of retreat, or hiking. There is a small ski resort nearby which I have not been too...but next time ! (Also the last eruption of the volcano, a cone of cinder blew up, and is now a very mysterious "butte". It is dark and looks like a pyramid...another mystical feature...
