“A great place to get away from it all”

Shasta-Trinity National Forest
Reviewed June 30, 2012

I took Forest Road 49 as a shortcut from Lava Beds National Monument, and what a scenic route I took! I certainly wouldn't recommend it for all vehicles, as the road is unpaved in some areas, and has many large potholes throughout. With that said, you can really get away from it all by traveling into the forest. You won't see a lot of people, and if you love forests, you will be in heaven with all the trees around you. I only wish I had more time to enjoy the drive.

The Forest Service has constructed very nice viewing sites for the three water falls on the river, near McCloud and a well paved loop road

The drive is breath takingly beautiful. It is a spiritual center, which has Mt. Shasta within..pristine, holy grounds.

Love this natural place-great views. The drive was very pretty. Bunny Flat was the furthest we could go, but even this was wonderful.
