Rockview Inn and Suites - Morro Bay
Ranked #25 of 29 Hotels in Morro Bay
Reviewed July 13, 2005

The hotel is only a couple of blocks from the beach, and there are a lot of hotels nearby. My opinion is that this hotel has the worst outward appearance of the lot.
This hotel is really more of a high-priced "motor inn". It really reminds me more of a place you'd stay at off the interstate late at night in a small town. There is nothing remarkable in its appearance whatsoever.
The room we stayed in had a whirlpool in it -- a very small one. But still, it was one of the only saving graces of this hotel in my opinion. I enjoyed relaxing in it.
The interior of the room looks VERY dated. Dreary with some cracking here and there. And also . . . almost unbelievably . . . there is no AC! It looks like there once was. I see the vents and the thermostat, but I when I went to the desk, I was told, "No, there is no AC. That is why we installed ceiling fans." Right, that is comparable in Southern California. I love cranking the AC in a hotel room on a hot summer's nice. Oh well.
The other problem was that the ceiling fan didn't work! Well, no AC and no ceiling fan wasn't going to work for us. I will say that the front office was apologetic of this fact, and a repair man came right out and fixed it within about 30 minutes.
I will say that I thought the front desk was rather courteous to us. Another saving grace from a 1 rating.
This hotel is well-located with a good staff. But there isn't reason to believe that the other MANY nearby hotels are not similar or better. The pool was another thing not to brag about -- needs painting. The bed was uncomfortable to sleep on.
So, I guess there wasn't really much I liked about this place. I think there is better value out there and certainly better upkeep and appearance in a hotel in this price range. I wouldn't stay here again.

Our stay was everything we could ask for. We came ,we fished, we slept. The whole time it was quiet.

My brief but enjoyable stay was enhanced considerably by good advice from the courteous and friendly manager who knows the area well. Also, a very small issue with the very new bathroom sink was cheerfully repaired within minutes of my call.

While this is an older property, the rooms and common areas appear to be very clean and well-maintained. The front desk area has many brochures and mini-menus to help guests with sightseeing and dining choices. High-speed Internet access should be available by late 2005; check with management if interested.

I would recommend this motel without hesitation. I should add that by booking online well in advance, I saved more than 30% compared to the prices that were in effect a week before my stay.

Clean, well equipped and cheap, with friendly staff about sums it up. We stayed overnight on a drive down the coast from San Francisco to LA, and it was OK. Our bed sagged a bit in the middle. No complaints, but nothing to get excited about, either. It was April, and Morro Bay was mostly shut. The room was certainly well equipped with just about every gadget you could need, iron, fridge, microwave. I think they had better trooms with jacuzzi, so worth asking.

Breakfast was OK. The muffins were cut up into quarters and there weren't any trays to take stuff back to your room. I've no idea if that's normal because I haven't stayed in many motels. There was cereals, orange, coffee, and danish.

Our stay in Morro bay was nice. The town closes early so it is good the room has a microwave and fridge in it. - Griff
