“Great for the price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2011

My wife and i stayed here as an overnight rest stop on our way to Monterey. I booked online and paid just 25 dollars for one night. For that price, we got a clean room with fridge and microwave. I have never stayed in a hotel which provided all that for that cheap a price.

Granted the place is very old and the fittings are not of good quality. The free breakfast is nothing but coffee and a muffin. But it all depends on what your expectations are. For the price I was paying, I would have been happy if the place was good enough to have a comfortable night's sleep and be able to take a warm shower in the morning. This place gave that and much more.

I think the amenities and the comforts of the place is good enough for being charged up till 50$ a room, considering the location as well. If the rate you pay is above 50 $ a night, then I suggest you should explore other options.

Booked in to Anchor in as part of a tour of the West Coast I had planned, big mistake selecting this hotel. Very little redeeming features, in fairness the owners had tried to clean the place but used so much bleach we could hardly breathe for the smell /taste. I'm not sure if we should call this super clean!! The response from the hotel was to leave the doors and windows open for 5 minutes and it would be OK, we had already been out for a walk for a couple of hours so a further 5 minutes wouldn't do much. We asked for a change of room and my wife was shown a different room but would be a further $60 charge, this guy obviously doesn't understand customer service or a complaint. After much arguing and stating we would not pay another cent for a room we did get a move, the room was better, it did have a chair in it!! We have stayed in a number of hotels on this tour and this hotel worked out the most expensive per day, the hotel is not worth a fraction of what we paid. When we returned after being out a night the car park had a number of Police cars still with the blue lights flashing, fits with the location I thought. Tried the "High Speed Internet" which seemed to only work around the office area and not throughout.
We really couldn't wait to get away from here, do yourself a favour stay someplace else.

Room Tip: Don't ask, look elsewhere

Run down rooms, no shampoo, sink glued together, shower Jerry-rigged, advertised free wifi did not work, people upstairs sounded like bowling alley ALL NIGHT!!! They had TV on loud most of night, THEY DIDN'T SLEEP!! I am writing this on absolutely no sleep! However, much better than sleeping on the street!

First, it is located a very few blocks from the bay which is more than a lot of motels there are BTW. Second, it had a ton of TV stations + good reception, a microwave, a small fridge, and a great bed. I paid $45 + tax so the price was excellent. I don't understand some bad reviews. The only negatives I found were no heating or cooling which obviously would be a problem if you were there certain months of the year and the continental breakfast looked as spartan as possible....pastry I think and juice, that is it. And it starts at like 8AM so I didn't even bother staying around for that. But the clerk was very nice, the location fantasic, and the room amenties outstanding.

I was almost scared off by the comments from others even though they are very old comments. The rooms are clean and the mattresses (at least the bed we had) are new. Yes, it is an older property and the bathroom reflects that, but it is clean. As we were going to check out the room before actually registering, we spoke to another couple who were guests in the room below us. They said they had been coming to this motel for 10 years and wouldn't go anywhere else for the money. Everything they told us about upkeep and renewing the rooms was confirmed when we went into the room for inspection. We did not experience the noise problem mentioned in older reviews.

We were there for the classic car show over Mother's Day weekend. The motel is 2 blocks from the ocean and 2 blocks from Main Street where the car show is held - easy walking to/from the Embarcadaro.

Keep in mind there is no A/C, no amenities (a few small soaps and that is it), but the price is right if you don't want to spend a fortune on a room. There is a microwave and fridge, a small table with chairs, a table and chair in front of a wall mirror.

We asked to extend our checkout time and were told there would be a small, extra charge. However, when we did checkout, the charge was waived. We did not utilize the free breakfast, so I can't comment. There is a wonderful diner right across the street that we did enjoy.

i recently returned to the area after a 3 month visit with relatives up north. wow!!, the inn has been upgraded even better than my last stay. i stayed for 5 nights until my place was ready and found it very comfy. the price was right and the service was outstanding. this is one of the best kept secrets in morro bay as i would stay here again and recommend the inn to the traveler who is looking for a bargain. the inn is walking distance to everything.
