“Loved everything about this place!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Giovanni's is located right on the bay and has a superb view. It is extremely casual. You order at the counter and then wait for them to call your name. I had a fish sandwich and fries. It was easily the best fish sandwich I had while in the area - and I had a lot of them. My boyfriend had the chowder, crab sandwich (roll), and garlic fries and raved about everything.
We talked with another couple who said they always get the shrimp cocktail whenever they are there. It looked amazing and I wish I would have had time to go back later to try it.
There are seagulls all over the place and you have to watch your food or they will fly down and grab it. They seem to have a fondness for garlic fries.
My only regret is that we were not able to stay longer. Sadly, we discovered Giovanni's on our last day in the area.
Everything seemed fairly priced. The person who took our order was very friendly as was the guy who presented our order at the window. Each asked where we were from and if we were enjoying our stay. Giovanni's only has outdoor seating but when you see the view, you will be glad about that. Morro Rock is just across the bay and you'll see boats of all shapes and sizes going by as you eat.

“Good Food. Bad Service.”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We tried the fish & chips, shrimp burrito, clam chowder, and shrimp cocktail here. Everything was more-or-less fresh and tasty. The most appetizing item, however, turned out to be the garlic fries (i.e., the chips in fish & chips).

The service here left much to be desired. The woman at the window was more interested in chatting with her coworker than taking our orders.

Our bill averaged out to around $15 per person.

“Great fish!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

We went here three times, a very knowledgeable older man had me pick out our crabs, weighed them(he was spot on), cooked them, cleaned them, put them on ice and we took them home....and not a bite was left! Our steelhead was also good, but our halibut was "so so." We also enjoyed the clam chowder.

“Best Fish & Chips ever”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

I'm glad every time we return to Morro Bay you can count on Giovanni's to have the best Fish & Chips I have ever had, always fresh. This time we tried the fried oreos (you have to try them $1:99) they are awesome. This is still the first place I eat and the last place , before going back home , and can't wait till next time to go back. It's worth the wait the line moves quick , they open at 11:00 am. Fish & Chips 5 piece $9.99 best price in town and the best tasting in my opinion. It's just the way I like it. There fish market is open earlier so go inside and check it out you can get clam chowder in the market if you want something before the restaurant opens.

Excellent value and on-the-dock freshness. Try the fish and chips or ask for sashimi and get fresh daily salmon!
