“A first class dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

Windows on the Water has a view you would expect with the name. But, the food was excellent! We came in for a later Saturday night dinner. We were seated right away. The device was excellent and the food top notch. I would definitely look forward to eating here again. We also enjoyed the trio that payed - a wondful compliment to our meal.

“Awesome sunset over The Rock and the Ocean”

I have never seen a sunset like the one I saw from Windows on the Water, perhaps the wonderful strawberry margaritas helped!

Friendly efficient service, excellent clam chowder and fish dishes.

“Ok food - lackluster staff and atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

We chose this restaurant as a special anniversary dinner out on a recent trip to Morro Bay. We made reservations online and originally when they replied, they addressed it to the wrong person, so I re-replied to make sure that they had us down correctly. They answered and said we were confirmed. Upon arrival, they couldn't find record of our reservation anywhere, but thankfully the restaurant wasn't full, so we were able to be seated.

The restaurant wasn't at all what I was expecting. It's a cavernous space, not romantic feeling at all. It felt more like a hotel banquet room. The view would be lovely, though the night we dined was quite foggy, so there was little to be seen, though obviously that's no fault of the restaurant. There was a live singer/guitar player which seemed more appropriate to a lounge than a restaurant - just some live music without singing would have been fine. We requested a table away from the singer otherwise we would not have been able to talk - it was too loud.

Staff were polite, but not overly friendly. The most pleasant staff member was our busgirl, not the host or our waiter. I had the whole branzino fish, which was well cooked, but would have benefited from a sauce. Asparagus was not trimmed enough and was very woody. My husband had a steak and while ok, was overcooked from his requested medium rare. We had a goat cheese bruschetta to start which was nice. We each had a glass of wine (local to the area) which were both good, but small pours for the price.

For dessert we had their ice cream trio and the bread pudding ice cream was the best thing I ate all night.

For the price, we didn't feel it was worth it and the atmosphere is definitely lacking for a nice romantic dinner out. We wouldn't eat here again.

“An Absolute Gem of a Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

This restaurant is located on the second level of a small shopping area along the water front in Morro Bay, CA. It features large windows with vistas of the entire Morro Bay harbor and the beautiful Morro Bay rock. The setting is utterly gorgeous. We were able to watch people on sail boats, paddle boards and kayaks. There was also a nice variety of seals and pelicans playing and feeding in the water. The service is prompt, elegant and professional, and the server knew the menu and the specials very well. I had the grilled stuffed bronzini (a Mediterranean sea bass) which was out of this world, and my husband had a tender steak that was cooked to perfection. The bronzini had been flown in and was very fresh. The soups and salads were very delicious, and also very fresh. The meal was absolutely outstanding in every way. I will definately go back to this wonderful restaurant, and I highly recommend it if you are anywhere within driving distance of Morro Bay.

“Still a class act!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2012

We were treating a musician in town for the Mozaic/Mozart Festival and wanted a special place. Windows continues to be it. Sunday evening was great. Good choices - two went with the prix fixe - and loved every bite. Did not opt for the wine pairing version, so can't comment on that, but would order it again. Great salad with caramelized pear, greens, toasted seeds. Scallops were absolutely perfect, just barely seared through. Raspberry mousse was the perfect end. One of us had the seared Ahi with a great, warm thai noodle slaw, a perfect side included on the plate. Preceded by a great Ceaser (a little more dressing than i like, next will ask for it on the side.) The tiramisu in chocolate cup was fabulous, and really good coffee. Attentive but unfussy service, friendly maitre d' and good location. With a glass of wine for each, the bill for 3, including tip, came to about $150 and we thought well worth it. We'll be back!
