Let me sing the praises of Taco Temple. We were advised by one of the winery staff in Paso Robles that it would be worth the pilgrimage there, and IT WAS! It was fun to get a close up of Morro Rock, and see the beach right across the street from the restaurant. It was good that we got there early; it is pretty small and was already full. The wait was brief however, and we saw several people after us get a basket of chips and salsa from the self-serve bar while they waited -- good idea! Your best bet is to order off the menu posted for that day as everything is fresh. Portions are large and even though prices are not cheap, you will not leave hungry. The tacos are open-face, not rolled or folded, maybe because there's so much "stuff" in them. Yes, I am a convert! if there are tacos in heaven, I am sure they will taste like these.

Roadtripping down Route 1 with my teenage son, we bumped into some locals in Cambria who recommended we try this place out. Staff were very friendly and helped us novice seafood Tex-Mexers to work our way through the menu. There was a fun vibe and a nice atmosphere amongst guests. We got chatting to a bunch of students from the nearby Uni at San Luis Obispo and they couldn't have been friendlier. The food was plentiful (where isn't in the good ol' US of A!) although do be careful with your choices. A supermarket is across the parking lot for you to buy some nice fruity hoppy American IPA to balance out the spicy food. Awesome place - a one off kinda joint!

We've seen people standing in a line to get a table on several occasions so we thought we'd give it a try. Unfortunately, we weren't too impressed with their food so maybe they just weren't having a good day. I did like the fact that they have three different choices for taquitos and I chose the carnitas taquitos. My husband ordered the chicken taco and he had one bite and didn't want any more because he didn't like the taste. Our server seemed preoccupied and rushed. The tortilla chips and salsa from the chips and salsa bar were fresh and tasty.

Taco Temple does not serve up your normal Americanized cheesy Mexican plate. And while the prices may seem a little higher, I found that two of us can share the Carnitas platter with it's crunchy crisp grilled shredded pork, black beans and rice and a healthy pile of salad greens topped with a cilantro lime dressing and still take home leftovers. If you are looking for a quiet setting, order your food "to go" and drive to one of the local parks, but don't forget to load up at the salsa bar.

Taco Temple is a hidden treasure in Morro Bay! From the outside this restaurant is an old building that doesn't look like much. Once inside not much changes in regard to the decor. What's special is the great food; evidenced by the folks waiting outside for a table!

Mexican Seafood offerings are their specialties. The meals are fresh, tasty and tend towards being really healthy. We consider ourselves lucky, as we are able to dine there once or twice a month!
