I have been dissapointed in reading good reviews on places that did not live up to my expecations latley, that I really was not expecting much from this place, Boy, let me tell you I'm glad i took the chance on this place, it FAR exceded my expecations, it may not look like much from the outside,b ut they really know there food, , the menu my be limited, but not the taste!,my burrito was the best I have had in a LONG TIME!!!,

and the portions are HUGE you could easily share with someone or take the rest home for later!!!, Yes the prices may be a little high, but considering the portions well worth it,

They even have a self serve chip and salsa Bar,

I was in about 4:00 pm on a friday and they Had a steady flow of customers,

the the service was fast, and very freindly, out going employees!

beware they don't take credit/debit cards, CASH ONLY!!

Do your self a favor EAT HERE< YOU CANT GO WRONG!!!

This was recommended by our "Evergreen Travel Club" host! The food was very good, service was pleasant and fast. The portions were enormous...I ordered one chicken soft taco and it filled the plate! It cost $4.50! My wife's order was much more than she could eat.

I was fortunate enough to go with locals so we managed to avoid the queue of seemingly mainly locals (lots of familes)- that built up around dinner time....queue means good !
If you want smart or refined dining then go elsewhere....BUT.....if you want to pull on your favourite jeans and enjoy a fresh relaxed huge portioned meal then this is the place
Help your self chips and dips until the food arrive. Don't too many chips though as portions are huge and all top quality and very very fresh. Apparently it is not unknown for Taco Temple to be in radio contact with inbound fishing boats and adjusting the days menu accordingly......
Right on Highway 1 so easy to reach.....it's disarmingly modest facade and interior hides great food at very modest prices......just how 'old' California used to be before mass tourism.
Don't miss it !

This one time gas station was taken over from the owner of a taco stand that used to be by the wharf in Cayucos. Don't be fooled by its humble appearance or dissuaded by their refusal to accept credit or debit cards. The food here is fabulous! The quantities are awesome, so my husband and I usually share an entree and a dessert. I am particularly fond of anything they make with crispy carnitas. They call it California fusion food, because there are way more fresh locally-sourced vegetables than standard Mexican fare. If you possibly have room, split the chocolate bread pudding--you will not be sorry. They also have an extensive seafood menu but it is pricey. The burritos are enough for two or three people. There are quirky wines and beers for every appetite. This is a local gem.
