The Galley is our favorite restaurant! Whenever we are in Morro Bay we make it a point to have dinner here at least once. Fabulous fresh fish, great service, a wonderful bar, and outstanding view. This place is the best!!!

We didn't have a reservation and it seemed the dining room was very busy. The hostess was very welcoming and said that she could send us a text when a table was ready. The wait was suppose to be about 1 hour, but was only about 25 minutes, the text message system worked perfectly. The view from our table was nice and I don't think there is a bad table in the dining area. Our waiter was good, but not exceptional. He told us about the specials and we ordered the seared tuna to start. It was good and almost tasted like beef, maybe a tad on the dry side. Our entree was very well done, scallops cooker perfectly and a little bit of grit here and there, but not bad. I had the local rockfish and it was moist and well done, there was a fish scale here and there, but still a good dinner. Overall a nice upscale dining experience, with people dressed both causally and also made up for a dinner. Good dinner to end the night, worth the wait. Hostess said goodnight to us, which is a plus since most places don't care one bit.

We stopped here for lunch, with no prior knowledge of its reputation. It had an attractive exterior and parking nearby. We were greeted enthusiastically, and seated right away. The views, as noted by other reviewers, were great from wherever one would sit. We had the soup (clam chowder) and salad, one with Seasonal Mixed Greens and one with the Insalata Molina (Mixed greens, arugula, pear, chopped nuts, crumbled blue cheese). Both salads were dressed with mango vinaigrette, a dressing that I found very thin and nearly like water on my mixed greens; in fact, I thought the dressing was non-existent, that the kitchen had merely rinsed the greens and put them on the salad plate. On the other hand, my wife raved about the Molina. The clam chowder was heavy on the potatoes, and light on the clam pieces, but had a great taste. Service was OK, but not outstanding. It seemed once we ordered and were served, we were pretty much forgotten; meanwhile, the waiter did not seem to be overwhelmed. Pleasant atmosphere and tasteful decoration were positives, along with the view. If this is the best along the waterfront, maybe we need to visit again sometime if we are in the area, to give them another chance.

This is one of a few of the more elegant gourmet restaurants on the Embarcadero. Not your fish & chips joint. Quiet atmosphere, comfortable, beautiful views and very good food and service.
