“Great View!”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

The restaurant is very nice with a great view. We watched the pelicans dive for their lunch while we ate ours. Based on the reviews we were expecting the food to be excellent but would rate it good to very good ourselves. We prefer the fish and chips at Andria 's in Ventura. Here it seemed a bit over cooked and the batter wasn't as yummy to our palates. I really liked that I could have salad instead of chips. The mango dressing is very good. The staff is excellent. If we returned, we'd try something different on the menu.

“Just Wonderful”
Reviewed August 21, 2013 via mobile

Everything at The Galley Seafood Grill and Bar was excellent. To start, how many restaurants have you visited where they show the chefs in the kitchen preparing the meals live on closed-circuit TV? Unreal! The hot break, appetizers, wine list, salads, "naked fish" entrees, and service were great. We were fortunate enough to dine on an evening when the sky was clear and the sunset over Morro Rock was beautiful. The sea lions and fishing boats in the harbor just added to the ambiance. This is a wonderful place for a special dinner in a great location.

“Tasty food & friendly service”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

After wandering around the Embarcadero and building up an appetite, we made a beeline here after reading all the great TA reviews. We walked into the restaurant at 5:10 on a Saturday, and fortunately, we were seated even without a reservation. My husband and children enjoyed fish and chips, we also had clam chowder and I ordered the blackened fish tacos, which were made from the catch of the day (choices were swordfish and rockfish, I chose rockfish.) They all enjoyed their fish and chips, which were light and flaky, not overly battered or heavy or greasy. The chowder was full of clams and tasty, not amazing but good. My tacos looked beautiful and everything was clearly very fresh, but tasted slightly bland. The restaurant intentionally serves their food as 'au naturel' as possible, with sauces served on the side, but even with the salsa, I felt that my tacos lacked oomph. I still enjoyed them for their subtlety, clean and fresh taste; it is just that my personal preference is that I prefer zingy food. All in all, it was a pleasant dining experience, as the staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was airy and lovely in decor. Although the setting was upscale, their attitude was very family friendly.

“'The best' dining option in Morrow Bay”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Having researched online the dinner menus even before our trip, it was comforting to know that Jim who checked us in at Beach Bungalows in Morro Bay also referred to this place as 'the best'. We called to make a reservation for dinner at about 5pm and was given 8pm. They then called back because we said we'd like something earlier and we were accommodated around 7pm. Great views of the bay while dining, friendly service and very delicious food. Clam chowder was excellent as were the scallops. Higher end of the price range but not ridiculous!
