“Great food & Great service”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Visited The Galley on a Friday night to celebrate with friends. We had reservations (a must) and a nice table by the window. The food was delicious as we have come to expect and the waitress was available but not hovering at our table. I guess the only negative for us was, as the restaurant became busy conversation became difficult. There was only four of us but it was hard to hear each other talk. So I guess if your looking for a restaurant with a quiet romantic atmosphere, or want serious conversation this may not be your first choice.

“The Galley is Top!”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary recently and decided to make reservations at the Galley; what a great choice! We were surprised by a wonderfully customized menu (with the information from the reservation) where they had printed a congratulatory statement recognizing us by name for our anniversary in the menu.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the Morro Bay Harbor and started with an excellent calamari appetizer that was second to none! We had a great selection of salads to choose from and decided to split the salad. For the main we chose a dinner (a halibut and a swordfish) which was wonderfully grilled and served hot, tender and moist! Overall, the meal was excellent and beautifully presented.

Our service was outstanding! Overall, the quality was high and the costs were very reasonable! We finished the dinner with a stroll along the waterfront.

The Galley is a restaurant not to miss while visiting Morro Bay!

“Amazing Presentation and Taste!”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Tucked back behind the main drag, this restaurant overlooks the water. Reservations are a must! It's a local favorite and seating is limited. Servers provide plenty of attention, and they do not rush you out the door. Food presentation is amazing. So attractive. Everything is cooked to perfection, and the seasonings are just right -- enough to enhance the food, but not too much to overwhelm the flavor. We had the most amazing dinner here. The fish is extremely fresh -- no fishy smell here! Prices are in line with a good-quality fish restaurant. The only thing I didn't enjoy was their "slice of heaven" pie -- the crust is a "wrap-around" criss-cross style pie dough; it wasn't thoroughly cooked. Peel away the crust and the filling was delicious - but not a lot of it. Next time, I'll skip the dessert and have a hot chocolate!

“The Galley deserves its many accolades!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Wow...thank you tripadvisor for informing me of this restaurant! I have been to Morro Bay several times and always ate another (not mentioned) restaurant for dinner. Then we went to the Galley. YUMMY! As others have mentioned, reservations are a must, especially on weekends. We walked in rather early and were very lucky to sit at the bar. Our bartender was fantastic. We sat at the window-end of the bar and had an unobstructed view of the ocean and the sunset..what else could one wish for?? Well, incredible seafood, service and wine for a start. And we weren't disappointed. Fabulous, freshly-shucked oysters and a fabulous ceviche to start. Incredible fish entrees to finish and yes the wine list was one of the most reasonably priced I have seen. Seafood fresh and perfectly, yet very simply served. Why do anything else when the fish is all today's catch?? We were engaged by not only the activity outside (a friendly group of seals) we could also see the staff busily at work in the kitchen on the TV at the entrance. This restaurant is definately worth the effort of making a reservation and waiting for the magic to start. Oh, and the clam chowder is divine!

“Good Food on the Waterfront”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We had lunch here and it was very good, the service was excellent and there was a lot of variety, but because we didn't have reservations it was limited seating..no waiting but nothing near windows. The Bar is tiny more of a suggestion, they have a good Beer and Wine menu and the Iced Tea was very good and refreshing, I had the Fish Tacos and they were Great, my friends tried the Clam Chowder and Fish Salad and said it was marvelous..plenty of food and extras. Oh and the Sourdough Rolls are delish!! They make them fresh every day. I would have liked to try dinner here I imagine it would be very good too!
