We have been going to the Great American Fish Company for 4 years and have had terrific food in the past and always bring our visiting friends there for dinner.

We did this again about a week ago. Three of us ordered the macadamia encrusted halibut and one asked for a broiled halibut with a side sauce. The macadamia encrusted halibut dishes were fine but the broiled order was just the same fish with the sauce on top. When we returned the order and asked again for the broiled fish, the dish came back and looked like they tried to scrape off the macadamia nuts and smothered it in a sauce to hide that. The plate was an unappetizing mess and ruined the rest of our dining experience. If you ask us we'd say the restaurant is just about ready to go out of business.

The restaurant no longer serves vegetables and offers a red cabbage salad (bland) or sliced tomatoes (hard). They no longer offer the choice of sauces to go with their broiled fish.

We're sad to report it was a poor experience at the end of a beautiful day at the Hearst Castle.

My husband and I ate lunch here on 9/12/09. The waiter was pleasant and advised us that the lunch menu would be available for only another 15 minutes in case we wanted to order from that lower-priced menu. I really appreciated that. In any case, we ordered the fish and chips. The fish was moist and tasted fresh. The fries were fine. The view was fantastic. No complaints.

How hard is it to grill a steak medium rare and bake a potato.....put it a Togo box and well after you get it home to find out you have just been served the worst Togo dinner. Well, I guess it's a sea food restaurant and they just don't know how to grill beef. My 22 oz Porterhouse was reduce to 16 oz after being cooked to long and the baked potato resembled an oversize charcoal briquette. A dissatisfied local.

My wife and I had a reccomendation for this resturaunt from our hotel.
We were so dissapointed in the food. The fish didn't taste fresh and the calimari was hard to chew with too much thick breading on it.
We walked out thinking "what a Rip off". It costs us with tip, around $60.00. Obviously they are more concerned with their high profits than truely serving good and fresh food.
Service was very Good!

Great food. I love there clam chowder in the bread bowl. Right on the water front so you can watch people fishing, boating, the seals swimming in the water.Right next to the dock. They have a big fish tank inside to watch fish swim. My granddaughter loved it. Friendly service. We eat here every time we go to Morro Bay.
