We have been going to the Great American Fish Company for 4 years and have had terrific food in the past and always bring our visiting friends there for dinner.
We did this again about a week ago. Three of us ordered the macadamia encrusted halibut and one asked for a broiled halibut with a side sauce. The macadamia encrusted halibut dishes were fine but the broiled order was just the same fish with the sauce on top. When we returned the order and asked again for the broiled fish, the dish came back and looked like they tried to scrape off the macadamia nuts and smothered it in a sauce to hide that. The plate was an unappetizing mess and ruined the rest of our dining experience. If you ask us we'd say the restaurant is just about ready to go out of business.
The restaurant no longer serves vegetables and offers a red cabbage salad (bland) or sliced tomatoes (hard). They no longer offer the choice of sauces to go with their broiled fish.
We're sad to report it was a poor experience at the end of a beautiful day at the Hearst Castle.
