“Unexpected Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013 via mobile

We stopped by here on the way to Morro Rock. We were pleasantly surprised at how much there was to see and learn here. Our granddaughter enjoyed it and so did we. We viewed a couple of videos and glad we took the time especially about the history of Morro Rock. Really made our visit more meaningful!

“Best docents around!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

Most of the docents have been trained by a sharp, lively former librarian who's lived in town more than 20 years. And, boy do they know their stuff! It's a great little museum for the kiddos, and if you're a curious adult, you'll find out some interesting tidbits about the area, it's history and the wildlife.

“Excellent small museum. Great for elementary kids & nature lovers!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

The best tip I can give you is that if you have a camping reservation at the adjacent Morro Bay State Park, you get free entry to the museum. If they fail to give you the coupon, ask the park ranger at the kiosk for one & you get in free one time for your group. The museum also has a movie theater where they show nature movies on the area. The inside has good exhibits on tides, sea creatures, birds, the estuary, and more. You can spend an hour there & then walk around outside. It can be very windy sometimes, and foggy. There are restrooms outside the museum that are open to the public if you are just walking around the area. If you would like a good hot drink afterward, the Albertsons downtown has a Starbucks inside it.

“Cute little museum.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

Keep in mind that this is a very small museum in a very small town. However the exibits are very nice. Our teenager enjoyed it very much. The video on the seals in Morro Bay was a hit with her.

“Fantastic 'hometown' museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

This is perfect for an hour for kids and adults. It is very well done with views of the ocean. We go back again and again. Great spot for picnics but get there early. You'll find the tables close to the museum.
