“Great for Tea”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Have eaten here on numerous occasions on my recent trips to Morro Bay. They open very early for those who need it. I especially like their loose tea, which they pour into a tea bag. A couple of notches above the breakfast coffee shops that give you a metal pitcher of lukewarm water and a factory produced tea bag. I usually have one of their bagels with the tea. Great breakfast! Oh, and very friendly service as well.

“Ok not great”
Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

We like the idea of the independent coffee house...the free style ambience, which Top Dog has. That said, the cappuccinos we had were just not that good. Mine actually had a burnt taste. My husbands on the other hand wasn't quite hot. So we won't be back. Three stars for friendly service and ambience, otherwise two stars for the coffee.

“Local hangout in the popular 800 block of Main St”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

Some prefer Starbucks. But if you're looking for something funkier, you can't go wrong when in Morro Bay. Artists, writers, college students all gather here with their iPads, Laptops and coffee in a slightly cramped space. You'll notice local art on the walls, and corrugated tin wainscoting adds to the Morro Bay ambience. Top Dog used to be "Two Dogs" when they were across the street. They are located in the middle of a cute shopping street with Legends at the Circle Inn bar on one corner and a former BofA, now Morro Bay Realty on the south corner. Sandwiched in between legendary Colalesce Bookstore and wedding chapel, Morro Bay Art Museum, women's clothing shops, Karma Sunshiine Collectibles and Sabetta's Pizza and Pasta. Plus in the afternoon you are the lee of the Northwest breeze coming from Morro Rock. In the morning you on the sunny side of the street. Did I mention the coffee is good and the help is great looking.

“Yummy chai varieties”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Never saw so many different types of chai lattes. Locals hold court here every morning...great conversations and opportunities to meet new people.

“Cozy "anti-Starbucks" coffeeshop”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

This place is like a coffee shop found in San Francisco during their hippie period of the 1960's. It's very cozy with, hand written menu boards and bulletin boards loaded with local happenings. Their coffee was good, although nothing exceptional, The young man behind the counter was very pleasant and quite ready to talk about coffee and the differences among the different types. Their coffee was a few pennies more expensive than Starbucks.
