“In the water quick.”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

I was all set to paddle in less than 10 minutes. The gentleman gave me some details about the water conditions and out I went. Very convenient and affordable.

“Simply fun!”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

Arrived promptly at 9am on a Friday morning (in December!) to take advantage of the 10%Early Bird Special. The gentleman greeted us with a warm smile and took care of us like we were at home. The weather was perfect, clear skies, saw a few sea otters and paddle around the sea lions-who were very vocal! The location is great. We paddled to a small beach and got some great photos of the rock behind us. Breathtaking! We did a simple easy loop around the harbor, stopping to take lots of photos and selfies, of course! One hour was plenty of time for what we did, however our next date will be longer! The service was great, kayaks, life vests, paddles, location, not ONE negative thing to say about our experience with Horizons Kayaks. We will put this on our list of things to do on a date, and of course highly recommend it to others. After paddling about, you will work up an appetite...there are plenty if restaurants walking distance to choose from. Or picnic on the south end of the rock!

“Excellent for our dog and toddler”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

We went kayaking the first weekend in October. Often, early October is warm and clear on the Central Coast, and this was no exception. It was 80 degrees at 9:30 in the morning and extremely clear. We had both a Labrador retriever and an 18 month old toddler. I called ahead, and Kayak Horizons told us they had plenty of both go kayaking.

We rented two boats. I had the dog and my wife had the little girl in her kayak. Morro Bay generally is calm, and if you time thing right, you can ride the tide in both directions. We got our boats a little before high tide and went southwest toward the peninsula. If you are fast, you can be on the peninsula in 5 minutes. If you are slow, about 10 minutes by kayak. It has very nice sand dunes, and since there are no roads to it, almost no one is there.

The baby and the dog both LOVED the sand dunes. The dog ran around until he started to get hot, then he hopped in the 60 degree water. Our toddler also likes cold water and splashed a bit up to knee level. If we hadn't held her hand, she would have swam after the dog.

Dozens of sea lions hang out on a dock on the north end of the bay. The barking sound makes them easy to find. Our daughter was mesmerized. The Lab wanted to go play, but we convinced him to say in the kayak.

As we returned, our little girl was nearly asleep. Apparently the slow rocking motion is very calming, especially after all of the play and seeing the sights.

There is no extra fee for dogs, and we paid about $30 for two kayaks for a little more than an hours. Excellent for all of us.

“Best value kayaking!”
Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

This place was recommended by our hotel and we were so happy to find it! By far this seemed the best deal for kayaking Morro Bay. Quick service and instruction and we were off! Beautiful day and lots of sea lions to see. Would highly recommend this place to family and friends!

“Great wildlife viewing and reasonable rates!”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We rented two double kayaks for ourselves and our teen boys this past weekend, and we had a wonderful time! The rental included the boats, paddles, life jackets, and the use of a wet bag for storing things on the boat without getting them wet. We paddled over to the sand spit near Morro Rock first, and we saw many sea lions and shore birds in that area. We had fun walking on the spit for close up views of the rock and exploring it for awhile. We also took our camera out here to photograph the sea lions, and ourselves with the boats and with Morro Rock close behind. We then headed south, where we saw many more birds, including curlews, pelicans, and cormorants. The biggest surprise was when we saw a dolphin right near our kayaks! We ended up staying out a little longer than we had planned (about 2 1/2 hours), as it took a little longer returning than we expected. However, with hotel coupons and the early bird discount for being on the water before 10 am, the total for the two boats came to only $55 including tax. The couple who run the shop were very easy going, clear in their instructions, and pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend this company!
