“Beach Bungalow Inn and Morro Bay are true gems!!”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

We've just finished a 17 days California Road Trip (from San Francisco via Carmel, Morro Bay, Santa Monica and Yosemite), and without a doubt the Beach Bungalow Inn was the nicest place we stayed. We had a wonderful greeting when we arrived after a long and fabulous drive down Big Sur, and we were delighted with what we found. Morro Bay is a charming place and our room (Blue Butterfly) was sublime - cosy, modern, stylish - a pleasure to stay in!
We thoroughly recommend this place!

Room Tip: Blue Butterfly is a wonderful spacious suite - our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers had plenty of...

Recently stayed at the Beach Bungalow Inn for our anniversary and it surpassed all our expectations. Very charming inn and tastefully decorated rooms. We stayed in the Monarch Room and were glad that we made that choice. It is tucked away from the other rooms which was very nice since we brought our furry friends along and didn't want to disturb other guests if they happened to make any noise. The young woman who greeted us was very nice and made sure everything was to our satisfaction in our room. She brought in a couple dog blankets for our pugs. The Inn is super pet friendly. It was such a luxury to bring our dogs with us, but also be able to leave them in the room when we wanted to go to dinner or SLO. The breakfast vouchers were also a nice touch. We chose Frankie and Lola's for breakfast each morning. Great breakfast place and the french toast is amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone, especially those with pets.

We were very pleased with our stay at Beach Bungalow. Some of the details that make this property unique and a "cut above" were details such as a container of beach toys for children just outside the registration door, covered parking, a pair of bikes for patron use, mini gardens outside each room, a clear view of Morro Rock, seating outside each room as well as a few small centrally located gathering areas, friendly greeting and acknowledgement of our anniversary (also a personal letter in our room for the occasion), and a bucket of chilled champagne which was switched in seconds for sparking cider when we suggested tha they might want to reserve the champagne for someone who would enjoy it more. Our room was very spacious, with 11 or so furnishings that were all well spaced. I enjoyed spreading a morning study out all over the fairly large desk and thought the full size rolling office chair was a nice touch. The sitting area and bed were both comfortable. I was impressed to find a pair of robes with slippers and a pair umbrellas placed in a classy bag in our wardrobe closet, as well as iron and board. The dryer with attachment hung in a similar bag behind the bathroom door. Lighting fixtures were not your usual lighting fixtures, but up to date, as were the not-the-usual-cheesy wall hooks. There was "real" creamer cups, bottles of water, tea for non-coffee drinkers, a picture book on the history of the area, generous breakfast at a local restaurant, better than usual tasting in-room coffee, interesting artwork (I especially liked the collection of heart shaped rocks presented as artwork in our room--very creative), generous sized well-lighted shower with fully adjustable showerhead, comfortable seating area, adjustable TV that could aim at the seating area or bed, and even thoughtfulness of the maid in leaving the clock on a setting with very quiet ocean sounds in the background (thought I was hearing the actual ocean in the distance until I realized there wouldn't be faint seagull sounds when it's dark outside). Nothing cookie cutter about the place. We took a while to figure out how to turn on the fireplace--turn the thermostat by the bathroom up, but it made the room cozier in the morning since we had left the windows open all night and it was sort of chilly in the morning. We weren't bothered by any noise. They have done the best they can to make an odd bathroom arrangement look appealing, down to a fancy fan folded into the TP. We will probably spend another anniversary here--we felt very well taken care of because someone obviously tried to think of anything and everything they could to make guests feel comfortable.

Room Tip: Sandspit is a generous-sized room. Because it is on the highest end of the property it also has a n...

The Beach Bungalow offers comfort, convenience and friendliness. The rooms are beautiful and have wood floors - finally someone got it! It's sooo much more hygienic, fights allergies, and easier to clean. I stayed at the Sandspit room, which was nicely decorated, spacious and most importantly, clean! The bathroom was a bit small, but clean. And the bed, oh my... that bed is heaven! I want that mattress!! I'd like to suggest they attach the bottom of the headboard, since only the top is attached to the wall.
The staff is caring and friendly. I made a mistake on my reservation and Jim caught it right on the spot and called me right away. Thanks Jim! Britney (not sure about the spelling) was kind and gracious. And breakfast at Frankie and Lola's was also a delightful surprise.
It was a last minute trip, and everything was so nice I wanted to stay one more night, but they were booked. So I will have to come again!

Beach Bungalow Inn and Suites was absolutely perfect. Spacious, clean rooms. Perfect location. Close to everything. And the staff! The staff were so lovely and helpful. I will never forget how incredibly helpful they were to us when we found ourselves in an emergency situation. I would recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Morro Bay!

Stayed here one night on 8/10/11. The rooms look brand new. Very comfortable. Our room #2 had no shared walls with other units (although close to office) we had a really good time, would highly recommend.

I almost hate to write this review because I want to keep this hidden gem all to myself but in fairness to the hotel, here is the honest truth. What a wonderful place to stay in Morro! We frequent Morro Bay often and have never stayed at a place as CLEAN and inviting and friendly as the Beach Bungalow. The rooms were so inviting, I felt like I was in my master bedroom at home and not in some stuffy hotel. Jim, one of the owners, personally talked with us a few times and when we got home there was a message on the answering machine from him thanking us for our stay! This hotel is so reasonably priced for all the great stuff that you get - clean, updated and spacious rooms, breakfast vouchers at excellent restaurants, super friendly staff, and location to all the Morro Bay hot spots. We will never stay anywhere else again!
