“Lovely Campgrounds”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Wonderful place, lots of trees and views. Many walking trails, very close to the town. Near a cute harbor resturant and kyak rental. Each site has a tale and bench seats plus a fire ring. Free showers. It has many hook-up sites, water and elec only, (reservation are recommended year around). Sites without hook-ups have more space, and water is close by. The non-hookup sites are readily available after Sept 15, and before May 15, otherwise reserve ahead. The Museum of Natural History is close by, and free for camping guests.

like walking the beach and watching the surfers. Picking up Sand Dollars and shells. But not inlove with all the dogs.

“A local fixture”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Planned in the 1950's, this park contains one of the few (perhaps only) natural history museums in the state. Plus, camping and beaches.

$2 gets you into the museum, which has a spectacular bay view location.

Lots of history, exhibits and a great gift shop. Child-friendly computer-based displays, a few stuffed animals, but the building and auditorium are classics.

Well worth the stop.

“Black Hill Climb”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

A short, sometimes steep 2.6 mile roundtrip hike to the top of Black's Hill offers spectacular views of Morro Bay, Morro Rock, and the California coast, north to San Simeon (you can just make out Hearst Castle), and south past Montana d'Oro.

“Great campground but needs sewer hookups”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

I've been staying at Morro Bay State Park for a long time and always enjoy it. The proximity to the marina and Dockside Cafe are big pluses. The only shortcoming is the absence of sewer hookups. It was particularly annoying this trip because we waited behind someone in a big class A RV who took a half hour to dump his tanks at the one dump station.
