“Always something new”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Walk along the boardwalk and you will be treated to something new each time. The seals and sea otters are playful and if you catch a sunset, all the better.

“See the Birds!”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

The estuary is huge! Much of the bird life is out of view of the person at its periphery. Here are a few of the great places to see birds a little closer up there. Go to the Marina near the Natural History Museum and go around the boardwalk. Keep your eye out for ducks in the marina and shorebirds on water's edge, as well as night herons. Go to the Elfin Forest on the Los Osos side and take the boardwalk. Keep your eye out for birds on the scrub habitat and in the miniture oak trees. Go to the estuary overlooks. Visit the Audubon Overlook and the Sweet Springs Nature preserve on the Los Osos side as well. There are thousands and thousands of birds in the estuary during fall/winter migration but the area is so big they are swallowed up by the expanse.

“Great weather”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

The cold summer fog is replaced with warm clear days, perfect for walks along and around the estuary. Son-in-law has enjoyed sailing and golf. Grandkids surfed, hiked and road their bikes.
