If you have children (even if you don't) you won't want to miss this treasure of the sea. Take off your shoes and socks and let your toes sink down into the gooey mud. Dig down into the mud to find an assortment of creepy crawley crustations. Don't be tempted to take them though. They need to stay in their natural habitat.

Rent a kayak at low tide and you can really see the what and who goes on in the estuary. It is a primordial masterpiece.

When you are visiting the town of Morro Bay, remember that the bay is large and complex. There are the back bay and the sand dunes to visit too.

A lovely loop-trail leads to the estuary and back to the harbor. Pleanty of parking anytime. The walking loop trail is fairly level and less than a mile round trip. Great for viewing birds, sea otters, and tiny creatures of the estuary. Some great views for many photo opportunities.
