“Best Breakfast Spot in the Bay”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

Frankie & Lola's is a small breakfast & lunch spot right across from Morro Rock. They are best known for their fresh, warm cinnamon rolls every morning. We breakfasted there in their outdoor seating and although there was a bit of a wait, we were not disppointed. My wife went old school with the standard bacon & eggs, while I had "Lola's Favorite" -- their french toast -- which you will love if you are looking for a sweet breakfast. The french toast is baked, comes in a bowl and is the consistency of bread pudding with a to-die-for praline pecan sauce (no syrup needed here!) I also picked at my wife's skillet potatoes which were well-cooked and seasoned perfectly. A diner adjacent to us had what they call the "LeRoy Brown" which is a huge mountain of food starting with a layer of skillet potatoes and ending with a topping of eggs. A bit removed from the main Morro Bay action, but well worth the short walk.

“Great cinnamon buns”

Admittedly, we only had take out from them but the cinnamon buns were warm and fresh and packed a lot of flavour. Must count for a lot!

Really enjoyed the French Toast Brulee. Wished we had brought our Lucky when we saw how dog friendly the restaurant was! This was like starting the day with dessert first!

“Cinnamon rolls to die for”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

Our stay at the adjoining Bayside Inn included two rolls to go each morning. We are not breakfast people and rarely eat sweets but these rolls were so good we may have to rethink that no sweets part :). Baked fresh each morning, they would be enough to justify this place all by themselves, but judging from the locals arriving for breakfast at 6:30 each morning I suspect the rest of the menu is pretty good, too. Small and friendly, this is the kind of place you hope to find when visiting a small town. Good job!
