“Best view of the Rock”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

I've been to Morro Bay a couple times and my family has been visiting for years. Bayfront Inn has the best view of all, especially if you stay in room #20. It’s less than a mile to the rock and makes for a nice walk. The owners are especially nice and provide many wonderful offers when you get there, whether it’s free coupons for nearby restaurant’s, candy/snacks/drinks in the room or in the coffee room next to the office. I will stress that these are European style rooms that are very small, however they are as someone else said "immaculately clean". I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Room #20 is upstairs, has one queen size bed, a jacuzzi and the very best view of the rock. Best for...

My wife and I stayed in Morro Bay while visiting our daughter and grandchildren, as we had done previously. This was our first stay at Bayfront Inn (stayed 10 days) and plan to stay there whenever we come to Morro Bay from now on. We did not have our dog with us this time, but it will be really nice to have her with us for another visit. The owner is so warm and friendly, as is the staff. They always were smiling, saying 'hi' and asking if we needed anything. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable (which we have not found at any other places we have stayed). We were even able to get a room for our friends who came for an overnight visit! They enjoyed the cleanliness and quiet surroundings, as we did. Though the rooms are small (cozy!), they were very comfortable and met all of our needs. Jayne and Leigh were very friendly and welcoming to our grandchildren too. The location is the best in Morro Bay. Everything we needed was within a very short walking distance. We loved walking across the street with our coffee to look at the boats and especially to watch the otters play near the dock. We really enjoyed the French bakery next door and being able to walk down Embarcadero to all the shops! We were not able to have a meals at Frankie and Lola's this time, but plan to next visit as we heard good things about them. We HIGHLY recommend Bayfront Inn! Quiet, clean, comfortable, close to everything and a beautiful view of Morro Rock!

I stayed here with my daughter on a recent trip down the coast. When we pulled in, we were enchanted by the sound of the sea lions out in the bay. Lee (Leigh?), who arranged our reservation and took care of us while we were there, did an excellent job. She couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The room was clean, though small, and the shower turned out to be one of the best I've had at a hotel. The price was also very reasonable.

There was only one little thing that could have been better. Late at night, when we began to hear strange noises nearby, my daughter at first thought we were hearing a dying sea lion out in the courtyard, or a homeless person yelling. I had to explain to her that no, that was the man next door having sex. His female companion was also quite loud. In fact, the walls were SO thin that we could hear them talking afterward and could almost make out what they were saying. I realize it's an old building and there's not much they can do about this, but travelers should be aware that the walls are super thin, and if your neighbors are noisy you WILL hear them. (And if you happen to be the one making the noise, know that your neighbors will hear YOU!)

A pet friendly, compact , BUT very clean room with unbelievable amenities. Bottles of water in the fridge, fruits, coffee, hot water, continental breakfast items in the "galley".....as well as coupons for daily cinnamon rolls, fish and chips, as well a wine tasteing and discount to purchase wines. Convenient location to walk to the Embarcadero to sightsee or shop.

To "top it off".....a very courteous and helpful management and staff.

Room Tip: With a pet, choose room 5 or 12

My family stayed at the Bayfront Inn, based on the recommendation of friends who live in Morro Bay. The hotel was a wonderful experience. It's also a far better value than comparably priced lodging in Morro Bay, primarily due to the location, nearby food, and amenities.

Negatives:
Rooms are small-- if your party has three or four people you should reserve one of the larger (and more expensive) rooms.
The hotel is close to the power plant, but the plant isn't always active and is more of a landmark than an eyesore.
Matthesses are pretty hard, but I had no problem sleeping.

Positives:
Location-- right on the bay, and rooms have a clear view of the rock (and the water, if you're on the second floor). Walking distance to the rock and the shops on the embarcadero.
Clean room (even though some rooms are dog friendly)
Lots of amenities (including full cable TV, fridge stocked with free water and Capri Sun, coffee, local candy, and fresh fruit in the communal kitchen), great location (a short walk from Morro rock, right on the bay)
Great food (According to my Morro Bay friends, Frankie and Lola's next door has the best breakfast in town, and I agree. The Bayfront Inn included vouchers for each of us for cinnamon rolls from the restaurant, but it's well worth it to try some of their other dishes. Their chocolate cake was excellent in the evening as well. Tognazzini's Dockside Too is a short walk and is also good.
Quirky in a good way-- Bayfront Inn offers a collection of rubber ducks to play with. Outside decor includes a pair of pink flamingos, as well as a statue of some gnomes gnawing on a partial pink flamingo carcass.
Service-- the hotel is small (20 rooms), so if there's a problem, the staff address it promptly. Owners are very friendly and can help with referrals for any local activities.

Bayfront Inn is my first choice of where to stay in Morro Bay, and is even a nice alternative to staying in San Luis Obispo or Los Osos.

Room Tip: If your party has 3 or 4 people, select the larger, more expensive room.

We stayed here two different times and the Staff and Accommodations were excellent. They take really good care of each guest at their hotel. They do whatever it takes to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. We also had two miniature poodles and the staff treated them like royalty with gifts and treats. So they treated us AND our pets with tender loving care. Thank you Bayfront Inn for a Fabulous time in Morro Bay. We definitely will be back.

My husband and i stopped at the Bay Front Inn on our way home to Southern California from a visit up North. I choose this Inn for its view, price, pet friendliness and reviews. We went in January so it was off season. This was the cleanest, coziest little place ever. They had a gift for our pooch and goodies for us. They really take that extra step to make you feel welcome. The rooms are no bigger than a minute but totally functional, comfortable and cozy. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. We definitely will next time! I highly recommended the Bay Front Inn if you are looking for a quaint, quirky little getaway.
