The hotel is located on the main tourist pathway of the town, with the bay on the other side of the road. You can hear sea lions from time to time :-) The hotel is very clean, including bathrooms; new carpet, flat screen tv, refrigerator in the room. Continental breakfast available for guests. New and clean crib was available for the baby. Overall, we had a great time!

My boyfriend and I visited Morro Bay during Labor Day weekend and we stayed at Bayfront Inn. We didnt realized until we checked in that the establishment was a pet friendly hotel. Almost all the guests staying that weekend had pet however despite that, the place was clean and it was quiet.

The service was very good. There is a compliment water, juice and snack box in the room. Also each guest receives a voucher for a free cinnamon roll at the cafe next door which was very delicious.

The location is perfect which was rigt across to the bay. It is close to all the restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

Recently, my wife and I, along with our two Greyhound dogs, spent the weekend at this nice little Inn on the bay at Morro Bay. The reason we selected it was because they are dog friendly and cater to pets as well as people. The property is rather small with only 22 rooms, all of which have been remodeled recently. They are not large rooms but rather in the European style. The rooms are very clean and many free amenities are offered such as bottled waters and juices, candies in a bowl, free wifi and HBO, and every morning, free cinnabons from the little restaurant in front of the Inn. There is a small galley where you can get a Continental breakfast each morning, consisting of coffee, tea, Belgian waffles, oatmeal, and fruits. The Inn's staff are very plesant and low key. We made our reservations online and were contacted by email, thanking us for using them and also reminding us that we can cancel reservations with no penalty up to 5 days prior to the date. They emailed us again on that 5th day to remind us that if we weren't coming, we should cancel before a one day charge is levied. If you go to their website, you can see which rooms are available on any day as well as view the rooms via online photos. About half the rooms are "dog friendly" and vary in room size. There is a cleaning charge of $30 per stay for pets and is not determined by how many you have, just the one time fee, which is nice as other motels charge $25 per pet. As I have said earlier, some of the rooms are small so if your dogs are large, I recommend you ask for rooms 9 or 19 as they are the largest rooms that are "pet friendly". The Inn provides dog bowls and dog blankets along with some dog treats and a new toy as part of their service. All in all, we had a nice time and visited the dog friendly beach and a dog park that are a couple miles from the Inn. Ask at the desk for directions or go on their website for directions. We ate in the little restaurant on the property and the food was good and inexpensive. We will recommend this inn and will return often.

Room Tip: Check on their website where you can pick a specific room if available. Rooms 11-22 are on the secon...

Up until our last night here we were happy with our stay. The room was small and the hotel is very obviously older but we thought it was cute and was close to all the shops so the location was good. We were in a pet friendly room and it seemed to be no different than any of the other rooms(cleanliness wise) and we were offered a cute package for our dog upon arrival. We read through the policies and noted that our dog would need to be in her crate if we were not in the room, so we tediously took apart her crate and brought it with us. On our last night we left for dinner and received a call about 10 minutes later saying that our dog was barking/howling and we needed to come get her. Because we are dog owners this was not a big deal for us, we figured one of us would pick food up and we could bring it back to the room. Upon returning to the hotel the manager very rudely approached us about our dog and said we were not taking care of it. The woman continued to be disrespectful and was laughing at us with other guests as we went into our room. After about 30 minutes I approached the woman and let her know that we clearly read the policies because we brought her kennel and that to imply we were not taking care of our dog, who is very very loved, was inappropriate and unprofessional. The woman continued to be completely rude and inappropriate, and did not offer even an apology. The situation could have been handled 100 times better and from what it sounds like on these reviews the hotel clearly needs to work on customer service. We are local residents and will not be staying here again. I have never been treated so disrespectfully and felt completely uncomfortable the rest of the trip. I challenge the hotel management that continuously responds to negative reviews without addressing the manager's disrespectful demeanor to address the issue that this hotel clearly needs an adjustment with their customer service. The woman completely ruined our vacation.

attherock, General Manager at Bayfront Inn, responded to this reviewResponded August 22, 2012

We are always sorry when guests write a negative review because management has to respond to other guests' complaints. Management never want to have to confront a guest for any reason, but we have to serve the needs of all our guests. Front desk received 2 complaints about the howling dog left in this guest's room, which howling was more than 20 minutes. The front desk manager called the guest and requested them to return to the hotel because of the complaints we received from other guests. That desk manager had not previously met these guests. When 2 people walked into the hotel the manager asked if these people were the owners of the dog that was howling. The guests were offended by this question along with having to return from a night out to attend to their dog. They said that their evening out was ruined. Upon their return, the now angry guest came back to the manager with their check-in papers in hand, to point out that their dog was crated, implying that it should have been ok that the dog was howling because it was crated. Our pet policy does state that any pet left in a room unattended must be crated, but ,the animal also must be quiet. During this time, several guests were seated in one of our outdoor patios. Why other guests were happy and laughing had everything to do about the great time they were having, and nothing to do with the howling dog situation. No one was laughing at these guests and we are sorry that these guests would even think that. Our apologies were not accepted by this guest and she told us that she would be writing this type of review. Glad they liked their room, the gift basket for their dog, the cleanliness of the room, the bottled water/snacks/juices/continental breakfast/freshly baked cinnamon buns...they stayed and didn't check out until almost 11am. When they checked out, I was on the desk and apologized to the gentleman and he appeared to understand.

Good bed, fair size room and nice staff. Great complementary Cinnabon form the corner bakery.

Although a pet-friendly Inn, there were no noise. Only noise during night came from the power plant down the road, but no trouble sleeping.

I stayed for one night while driving from SF to LA along the Pacific Coast Highway. I arrived much later than I planned due to all the stops on the way and had to ring the night bell at about 9.30ish. The lady at the desk was very nice about it though and I felt very welcome. I would definitely consider staying here again if I ever come back to Morro Bay.

Pros:

1) Location - right by the rock. Plenty of cafes around, and parking right outside.

2) Rooms - I had an upstairs room where pets weren't allowed. It seemed reasonably big to me so I'm not sue where the issues other people raised with the room size came from. I thought the complimentary water, salt water taffy etc was a nice touch - I didn't end up taking any of the goodies as I was exhausted and basically went straight to bed though.

I didn't have any issues with other people's pets, there were lots of dogs about but they were all well behaved.

3) Ambience - the street by the rock is dead quiet at night. I arrived on a Saturday night, and there wasn't a soul in sight. The barking of the sea lions was clearly audible in my room (this lost some of its charm when they kept going till 12.30am or so, but "kept awake by sea lions" is a pretty unique experience)

4) Decent breakfast selection with oatmeal etc - I didn't try the sticky buns from next door but there was a good bit of food there to kick off the day with.

Cons:

1) I would have preferred a bit more lighting in the room. I did get the impression in the US that ceiling lighting isn't fashionable and people generally scatter a bunch of lamps around the room, so perhaps it's just a local difference.

2) Bit pricey in the high season, but so was everything else in Morro Bay.

Yes, the rooms are small but it sort of adds to the charm. Located so close to the rock you can count the sea gulls. We brought our Boston Terrier and were welcomed with open arms by the staff. This was great get away for us and we'll be back many more times.
