“Enchanted Bay, Charming Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2011

We only stayed for one night on our way north along the Pacific Coast Highway, traveling with our two dogs.

The Bad: Tiny rooms in an aging hotel wedged in between a bakery and some shops.
The Good: Charming staff, gift basket of snacks, free fresh-baked pastries at the next door bakery for breakfast.
The Enchanted: the location seems awkward, but actually is its strongest feature. True, it is surrounded by shops and such, but breakfast and outstanding seafood is just a few steps away. Most restaurants feature outdoor seating alongside Morro Bay, which is filled with fishing boats, seals, and few otters, and is bordered by scenic Morro Rock. The road is not really an issue as it dead-ends at Morro Rock and the beach, so there is minimal traffic, and no noise at night. The beach and Rock are about a half-mile away, and a very scenic walk; so no reason to drive at all. Dogs are permitted on the beach with a leash, and there is a dog-beach a few miles away if they feel like a romp. A truly unspoiled, beautiful place. If you are spending any time in your tiny room, you're missing the point!

From the time we checked in to when we checked out, we felt that the priority of this little inn was to take care of us. We are budget travelers but this inn felt like it was much more. Yes the room was small, but who spends time in their room except to sleep! The little goodie basket of treats was a nice touch. The cinnamon rolls the next morning were a real treat. We would absolutely stay again if in the area and have told our California friends about this. Plus they are pet friendly.

We stayed in a double room for one night and were disappointed at what we got for our money at over $130 a night. (not sure if all hotels in Morro bay are overpriced??). The room was ok, but basic - not bad size. Complimentary water, juice and snacks are nice touch. Bathroom nice size and clean - however extractor fan that came on with bathroom light was very loud (problematic at night). Other small annoyances include that the curtains did not fully close - had to pin them - and the pipes making alot of noise if the shower or toilet were used in adjacent rooms (again abit annoying at night). Breakfast was disappointing - however im sure it will be pointed out that it is advertised as 'light'. There is no juice, cereal or toast. However the cinnamon buns from cafe next door (guests get coupon for free one each) are tasty. Not a bad hotel at all but certainly not worth what we paid. Stay here if the price is right.

We have no record of this guest staying here.
Our double room has an ocean and bay view. Our rates are competitive with all hotels in the area. Our location is superior as it is on the waterfront. The double room sleeps up to 4 people. Price point is subjective and a choice a guest makes with reserving a room. Glad that this guest found that our extra touches, such as water/juice/snacks in the room that is free to the guest, pleased them. Other hotels might charge for these extras or for the internet connection, we don't charge for internet usage. Our decor is basic, offering a clean look - view the hotel website to see the rooms. Our lite continental breakfast includes fresh local fruit, oatmeal, milk, pop tarts, and moon pies.( Juice is in the room.) In addition to this the guest receives freshly baked cinnamon buns from the restaurant next door.
We have a full time maintenance person on staff and we check the bathroom fans on a regular basis as well as all plumbing and electrical. Should a guest report a problem, it is fixed immediately.
Glad this guest indicates that he/she would stay here again.

We were shocked that they charged so much for a room that even the bed barely fit in !! The pipes creeked when you use the faucets or flush the toilet. I had to sit on the bed and my husband had to stand just to eat a cinnamon bun in the room... Even if they charged less for the room I would never stay again...

We tried to look up this guest by city, "Anaheim"/email/or, any of these names or initials to try to specifically address this review, but could not find this guest.

Our smallest room is 10X11 feet. All mattresses are new. Rooms are extremely clean. Staff ultimately friendly. It's a mom&pop owned and operated hotel with long time staff! All rooms but 4 have full size desks in them and all rooms but 1 have a chair (and this room has a seating bench... there is no reason for anyone to stand. Furthermore, we have a full time maintenance staff person who takes care of any problems here, when reported - or not reported as we check plumbing in all rooms on a daily basis.

We stayed in Bayfront Inn only one night during our road trip in California, and really enjoyed our stay. The place is very cute and the location is just perfect. Rooms are very nice and clean and it feels like home. Perfect sitting areas outside with Morro Rock view. We loved it and would definitely go back and stay here again.

I stayed at the Bayfront Inn with my mom when going to see Hearst Castle last year. Decided to stay in the coastal town of Morro Bay. The Bayfront Inn wasn't fancy but it was clean and definitely adequate for what we needed and the location was great and looked into Morro Rock. The only thing I'd say was that the website makes it look nicer than it is. But I liked it and would definitely consider staying there again. And we got coupons to get free cinnamon rolls next door at the restaurant which we cashed in on right before our drive back home.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bayfront Inn. It was older, yes, but lots of personality because of it. We had a great view of the rock from our room and enjoyed the little deck and other outside seating area's. Very clean and very friendly staff. And they loved our puppy. She received very special treatment. We will definitley go back as soon as we can.
