“Kids' favourite!”
Reviewed November 4, 2009

We spent one night and it made a huge impression on my children who declared it 'the best hotel in the world!' which was largely down to Mollie who was so wonderfully welcoming! Morro Bay was lovely and we were pleased we had stopped for the night. The beach and waterfront were beautiful and the Inn itself was very pretty and the rooms a delight. We ate at The Galley where, again, the welcome was just so warm and we were made to feel like old friends. Mollie recommended a breakfast spot which served great pancakes (and they were having the town's weekly vintage car rally outside!). The only elephant in the room was the power station!

Morro Bay is a retirement community with a perfect pace for a great get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The people you meet are very friendly and it starts with Molly, the owner of Anderson Inn. I chose an overnight stay at Anderson Inn for my family because of the positive reviews I read from various travel sites. Molly was very friendly and helpful, giving me advice on travel times and various sites not to miss on our coastal drive from San Francisco to Orange County. She was a wealth of knowledge about Morro Bay, it's history, outdoor activities and shopping.
The Inn itself, has 8 rooms, 3 of which have over the water balconies. The room we stayed in was very clean and modern. We had a queen size bed, a roll away bed, an HD t.v., wifi computer hookup, fireplace, and a refrigerator. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub; shower stall with head and body shower heads. The room included spa ammenities and complimentary coffee and water. The balcony overlooked a beautiful view of the bay and the landmark Morro rock. Sea lions abound the bay and frequently swam near our balcony to the delights of our two sons. The room was sound proof tight that during the night, we could barely hear the infrequent barking.
Parking was free and the Galley Restaurant affiliated with the inn was adjacent to the Inn and afforded a lovely menu. The Inn itself was on embarcadero st which was right next to the water and supported many restaurants, delis, shops, cafes, bakeries.
I regret not being able to spend more time at Morro bay, but the next time we do go back, we will definitely stay at Anderson Inn. One night was just not enough.

The owners, Jeff and Molly greet you as if taking you into their own home. They are justifiably proud of their hotel and it shows. Molly brought tea to the room when she found out my wife did not drink coffee. Warm and friendly hosts.

We splurged a bit for room 201, over the water, north view. Where else can you sit on the balcony, see large pelicans come in, eye high, bank up and dive into the water right next to a harbor seal?

The room is large and spotless. Free wifi worked perfectly. This is a great little hotel, two huge thumbs up.

I think my husband summed it up best when he stated “anything I thought to reach for was right there at hand." The room we stayed in (with two balconies; a tiny one to stand in and look at The Rock, and a larger one overlooking the road in back) was almost perfect in every way. It was large, calmingly decorated, immaculately clean and very well appointed. The bed and bath linens were lovely and the bed was truly a delight. We were greeted very warmly and when I discovered I’d made a mistake in my room selection, every attempt was made to make us happy. Unfortunately, we didn’t commit to a dinner reservation at check-in for the adjoining restaurant, so we weren’t able to get a table, but the scrumptious odors permeating from the place made us very sorry we hadn’t.
I only have a few small mentions that stop me from giving the Anderson Inn a five rating. Unfortunately, the trash dumpster collection at the crack of dawn was not the best way to awaken. I’m sure the Inn has no control over this or they would already have taken care of the matter, but regardless, it is very annoying. Also, like so many marketing techniques, the term ‘view of the water’ doesn’t mean sitting, relaxed in your room, and gazing at the view. In this case, it meant standing in a tiny 4 x 6 outside balcony so you could see the water and The Rock in Morro Bay. And I think the three-headed shower would have been wonderful, but in our room, the top head wasn’t working, which meant it was very awkward to wash ones hair as the second head sits at about waist level. All minor little things that just sort of piled up on our visit but would not prevent us from returning should we be in the area. Do make note though, that unlike most of the coastal hotels and inns, the Anderson Inn does not serve breakfast, but your hostess will recommend some great little spots for you to try. We went to Frankie & Lola’s and thoroughly enjoyed it!

The Anderson Inn is a family owned and run hotel. The hosts made a great effort to take care of us; ensuring that we had fresh milk for coffee and knew about the local amenities.

The room was lovely with a whirlpool bath and a view of the sea lions.

There is a small fish restaurant located within the hotel building and this is definitely worth a visit!

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way up the coast to San Francisco. Just like all the reviews have said already, we were very impressed with this hotel. The Andersons do treat you like close friends/family while you are there, personally showing you the room and making great recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. Seriously, this hotel is the epitomy high class, of exactly how you wish to be treated everytime you walk through the door of a hotel.

Just like everyone has said, the great treatment started right from the moment I called to inquire about rates, ultimately making a reservation. We were emailed pictures of the area, including a pic of the view from our room, as well as info on the area and things to do.

The room we stayed in was absolutely wonderful. Very clean, very spacious and very well decorated. The bathroom, which the mulit spray shower, was an absolute treat.

Coming from the east coast of Canada, we are very much used to the sounds and smells of a harbour town, and we were happy to have them again after a week in the desert. Both my husband and I agree that we will spend more time at the Anderson Inn if we ever return to the area. We were both extremely, extremely pleased with this hotel. It's an absolute peach of a place to stay!

This place was amazing from the moment we stepped into the office. The family that owns this place treats you like you’re part of their family. We were just passing through on our way home from Big Sur and decide to stay in Morro Bay for the night instead of driving home. It turned out to be a great decision! Our room was upgraded to a room with an absolutely beautiful view; we even had seals swim by under our balcony the next morning. The bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to leave and the spa tub was very relaxing. Only downside would be the karaoke going on late at night a couple blocks down, but in a room this great you won't even care!
