“Exquisite flavors, home-style cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Mediterranean/Greek cafe, home-style feel, very reasonable prices. Vegetarian/vegan friendly; they also offer of meat products such as gyros. The owners were very friendly, relaxed atmosphere, made us feel welcome and at home. Exquisite food, divine baklava, and superb gelato. Will definitely frequent this restaurant again when I'm in the area.

“Koko's Cafe (plus coffee and gelato)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

I stumbled on a fun little lunch (and dinner) place the other day. Koko's Cafe, right in the heart of downtown Monterey (419 Alvarado). I had a chicken panini with Mediterranean seasoning that was great! I had dessert in the form of a Turkish coffee, all the while being entertained by exotic music and art, The coffee took me back to memories of the '60's when I was first introduced to this strong, sweet coffee. In addition to paninis, they serve salads, wraps, platters and baklava or gelato for dessert.
I work near downtown and like to get away for a quick lunch but try to avoid fast food or noisy sit down restaurants. My mom, whose first name was Echo, instilled a sence adventure in me; her nick name was Koko - the name, Koko's cafe is what caught my attention. An adventurous menu for sure!

“Cute place, good vegan option”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

The couple who run this place were really nice. The husband is from Egypt so he knows what he's doing. I am vegan and was able to eat the delicious veggie hummus and falafel plate. The pita was organic. Nice music.

Love the Gyros and home made pastries!! Welcoming decor and friendly service doesn't hurt either. Great place for lunch with a few friends!
