We intended to eat at a different cafe, but walked the wrong direction, so we chose to go here our first of 3 mornings in Monterey. We tried quiches, baked goods, and coffee. The quiches were fantastic and coffee terrific. If we're ever in Monterey again, we'll definitely be here each morning.

No trip to the south bay area goes by in our family without a pilgrimage to this authentic French bakery! Must eats: the eclairs, the napoleons and the chocolate-mousse topped cookies. Go for a three-hour run, then indulge here.

Or skip the run, and eat here anyway.

Id recommend the Chai Latte, truly delicious. Most of the pastries ive tried have been very good too. For some reason I prefer the Provence Bakery in Prunedale Ca.

This is the real deal!! I had the chocolate almond croissant, our daughter a pineapple upside down cake, our son an apple croissant and my husband ciabatta and lox. Lots of locals enjoying coffee and pastries. Tres magnifique!

This is our "locals' favorite breakfast" spot, each and every time we come up to Monterey, Paris Bakery. Yes, their cases are full of fresh-baked goodies but a little known fact is that they also create fresh breakfast croissants to order, if you ask.
My favorite is "The Parisienne", a croissant filled with ham and cheese, drizzled on top with béchamel sauce and toasted to a golden perfection. My husband loves the Croque Monsieur, freshly baked white bread slices filled with ham, cheese and that addictive béchamel sauce.
If you're a scrambled eggs, ham and cheese fan, they have those breakfast croissants filled and ready to bake up as well. My sister-in-law favors the spinach and eggs breakfast croissant, which is delightful.
You have to look towards the far end of the second bakery display case has a "sit on top" case. This is where the freshly made breakfast croissants are kept, next to the pizza, etc.
Also, if we're going on a picnic later that day, we order one of their delicious sandwiches!
We always order a "sweetie", either a warmed up chocolate almond croissant, or one of the buttery Danish pastries. Yes, always ask for your croissant or Danishes to be warmed up, especially if there's chocolate involved, because it becomes heavenly and wonderful, a great way to begin a busy, beautiful Monterey Day!
