My husband and I photographed a wedding in Monterey, in January this year (2013). The wedding party and guests were invited to book rooms here. We loved it. It was quaint and comfortable, and was within walking distance to the best little cafe called "The Wild Plum." (right across the street).
I recommend!

Room Tip: We chose a room where we could have a refrigerator. We always do this when we travel, so we can save...

Thank you for staying at the Casa Munras. I hope your wedding shoot was a success. Casa Munras is a great hotel for groups, and I'm glad to hear that the wedding party you were with seemed to enjoy it. Our location is great for groups who may want to go out at night and not have to worry about driving anywhere. Thanks again for staying and if your work or travels bring you back to Monterey again we hope to have you back to the Casa Munras.

Sincerely,

My girlfriend and I stayed at Casa Munras for a weekend for our one year anniversary. From the moment we walked in the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I love the latin influence the hotel has, there were churros at the front desk for arriving guests, yum! Jennifer is awesome, she had a bottle of Champagne sent to our room for our anniversary. That was a very nice gesture and tells you that they care about their guests and want you to have a nice experience there. The room was nice with a fireplace and a new flat screen, bathroom was small but everything was clean and newer. The bed was very comfortable, I know a lot of people won't stay at a hotel if reviews are constantly saying the bed is too hard or old etc. You won't have that problem here!

Oh and they are dog friendly, we took our Chihuahua and they gave him treats and such. They gave us a ground floor room right next to the grass, perf!

Hope this helps with your decision, enjoy!

This place *nearly* has the makings of being at the upper-end of the three stars hotel level.

Pros:
-Helpful, friendly, professional staff
-Lovely, well-kept grounds
-Nice spa
-Great location
-Recently updated rooms that look great

Cons:
-The walls are VERY thin and we had obnoxiously loud neighbors.
-The beds are ROCK HARD. I woke up with back pain.

Overall: If hard beds don't bother you and you can sleep through anything, this is a great place to stay with decent prices and a central location to everything in the downtown area.

Thank you for staying and for your review of our hotel. I'm glad to hear that the service, location, spa, hotel grounds, and room were all highlights for you. I am very sorry and surprised to hear that you did not enjoy the bed due to the firmness. Our mattresses are not only pillow-top but are also covered with a feather mattress topper which we typically hear great things about. We would love to have you stay with us again, and if you do please let me know in advance and we can explore some different bedding options. I'm sure we can get it just right for you.

We arrived at dark and the landscaping with the lighting was very well done. The hotel appeared
to be O.K. Again, no elevator to the 2nd floor in our bldg. The staff was very fast to assign a
room on the 1st floor and also move our luggage. The new one did not have any heat and had
to wait for repair to be completed. Our room was small with inadequate window treatments.

The bed was comfortable but would hesitate to stay again unless a better room was available.

Room Tip: Do plenty of research on the different types of rooms before booking.

Thank you for staying with us and for your review. I am pleased to hear the you enjoyed the hotels location and grounds. We do have beautifully landscaped outside areas. I am sorry to hear that the rest of your expereince of our hotel was not as impressive. We do have 10 different buildings and 10 different room types each with its own character. I am confident that should you decide to stay with us again, we could match you to a room that you would try enjoy (I suggest one of our comfy fireplace rooms this time of year). Please feel free to contact me direclty should your travels bring you back to Monterey.

We visited Monterey for my spouse's company party recently and decided to take our dog along. Casa Munras was one of the few dog friendly properties that didn't charge an arm and a leg, so we opted to stay there. It was great! We had a spacious room, it was close to everything (we took her on a run through downtown to Cannery Row), and had a super comfy bed. Our one disappointment was the thin walls- there was a group of young women in the next room who clearly hit the bar scene during their stay (coming in at 2am-ish) and we could faintly hear the TV from the room behind us. Other than that, we were VERY pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend for those with dogs.

Thank you for recommending the Casa Munras as a good place to stay with four legged friends. Our nice garden setting, exterior entrances and available pet amenities make staying at the Casa Munras comfortable for the whole family. Additionally, we are proud to donate a portion of each pet fee collected to the local SPCA. Please come back and see us again soon, and be sure to bring Fido into the front desk for a treat.

The hotel is clean and staff is helpful, and the grounds is beautiful with plants and flowers everywhere which is well kept and very neat. It looks as though the groundskeeper(s) are proud of the work they do. It definitely shows with blooming flowers and clean grounds. Kudos to the groundskeepers for doing an excellent job.

Room Tip: A room in the back of the property, it's quieter.

Thank you for your stay, and your review. I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed our hotel, and the hotel grounds in particular. We do have great landscaping. My favorite are the bouganvillea vines that bloom in the fall. We hope you choose the Casa Munras again should your travels bring you back to Monterey.

I stayed here with a friend in early Dec 2012. Enjoyed this hotel, very nice revamp by Larkspur to this older property. Beds & room amenities were very comfortable. Lobby & business office were nice as well. Great location & easy walking downtown. We were there for Christmas in the Adobes, and I would stay here again.
Only negative was the hotel restaurant....definitely not up to par with the rest of the hotel at all.
Tapas were really mediocre & not terribly authentic, and the service was awful....I'm sorry to say. We only dined there at night after the Adobes tour, for a quick light bite, and it was very disappointing. I do hope the hotel will take note of this & step up the level to match everything else in the hotel.

Thank you for staying with us while visiting Monterey for Christmas in the Adobes. That is such a great event and really showcases some of Monterey's rich Spanish history. Perhaps you chose Casa Munras for this reason as well? As you may be aware Casa Munras was the residence of the last Spanish diplomat to California, Don Esteban Munras. He built Casa Munras or "La Granja" as it was called in 1824. I am so glad that you enjoyed the hotel, but truly sorry that the restaurant did not meet your expectations. We take your feedback very seriously. Should you care to discuss your stay further I can be reached at (831)-233-7902.
