We stayed at this hotel for one night while on vacation. Location was great, walking distance to Cannery Row and attractions. Our room was very nice with a fireplace and a small balcony. Everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We were on the second floor facing the street. We didn't notice any real noise. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you for posting your helpful review! We are glad to know that you found the street side room on the second floor to be quiet and restful. Traffic on Foam street usually dies down after 5pm, though we are still just a few blocks from all that Cannery Row has to offer. We will certainly look forward to your next visit!

My wife and I have been exploring the Santa Cruz/Monterey peninsula, and this is our recommendation to you. The room was spectacular - even had a little balcony with table and chairs facing the ocean. Inside the very large room a very comfortable bed, and easy to use fireplace, with the big flat screen over it. A two block walk to the beach where the divers enter the bay; or another short walk out on the Coast Guard pier to observe sea lions, seals, birds - and we were even lucky enough to have three porpoises swim along the breakwater.
I hate to pay for parking, even in San Francisco, but the fee is reasonable given that there is so little parking that isn't metered. It's a long walk to the Aquarium, but on our visits it's always been nice weather and we've found places to eat and enjoy.
Breakfast staff is very friendly and hard-working, and the breakfast room has a charm to it. The food itself is fine, and quite nice for a complimentary breakfast.
Front desk staff (Chris ? at check-in ) very nice, and helpful with directions; as was Charlene Adams during the week-end.
Our room was on the close to the street, second or third floor, but having the view and the balcony, and the great big room, made it all worth. I'm a notorious tightwad, and this was the most I'd paid for a hotel room, but it was well worth it. A great anniversary week-end.

The Victorian Inn is located a short walk from Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Our room was larger than average with a nice view of the bay in the distance. Room decor was fine. We slept well in the king-sized bed in the room. We will return here next time we are in the Monterey area.

Room was very nice with fireplace. Very clean and quiet. Parking fee is reasonable at $13 per night. Overall the stay was good and I might stay there again. Be careful of cancellation policies, they are extreme -- not like most other Best Westerns. Day time young lady at the front desk was wonderful and so helpful. She is what made the stay. Evening check-in person was rude. He was doing open mouth gum chewing. Short smart answers. Did not even look at me. He was hard to understand and not helpful. I was worried that that was going to be that way the rest of the staff would be BUT it wasn't. The rest of the staff was wonderful. I think management needs to learn that the front desk staff is what most people have the most interface with and make a guests opinion of the place. Included breakfast food was cold and of lowest quality. Decided to eat out after trying twice.

The hotel is old, but nice. Recently remodeled. They have a wine and cheese hour every evening and the breakfast isn't bad. Fresh plain omelet, fruit, etc. Only a few blocks from Cannery Row. The only problem I see is possibly parking.

Get a room in the back and on the highest floor for quiet. You can hear people walking over head

Room Tip: Get a room in the back building away from the street and on the top floor as you can hear people wal...

We stayed at Best Western Plus Victorian Inn with a Free Night voucher from Best Western. The room on the 3rd floor was excellent with King bed, fireplace, flat screen TV, in-room coffee. The balcony was very small with no view. There was a small fridge but no microwave in the room. The location is good as only 2 blocks from Cannery Row, so very convenient to walk to shops and restaurants. The afternoon wine, cheese & crackers, apple slices was enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent with eggs, sausage, French toast, coffee, juice, yogurt, cereals, toast, muffins, etc. The breakfast room was good size so no problem with the seating. The only negative aspects would be the high price if we had to pay for the room, although it was excellent, but nothing exceptional, and I was unaware of the parking fee of $13 until we checked in, which is ridiculous considering the price for the room. If you don't mind paying a high price for the room, then the good location, afternoon wine with cheese & crackers, and breakfast will give you an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: 3rd Floor rooms are probably more quiet with no one above you.

We so enjoyed our two day stay here, super friendly staff, wonderful breakfast, and the afternoon cheese and wine was a bonus! We were only blocks from Cannery Row and the aquarium. Our room was very clean, spacious and quiet. We were on the third floor and enjoyed the patio overlooking the courtyard. The fireplace was an unexpected delight. We were celebrating my husbands birthday and we so pleased to find a hand written note accompanying a delightful bottle of wine and yummy chocolates. We highly recommend this location to our friends and family. We will be returning here on our next trip to the coast area. Thank you to all of the staff that made our visit so wonderful.

Room Tip: Rooms away from Foam Street are super quiet
