If you're looking for luxury, location, and views of the Monterey Bay, the Monterey Plaza is the perfect hotel. The reservationist, Marcie, was extremely helpful in ensuring a spectacular ocean view room at a great rate!
The Plaza is located on the ocean in the heart of Cannery Row offering numerous dining, recreational, and night-life choices within walking distance.
Of the hotels I've stayed at on the Monterey Peninsula, I'll return to the Monterey Plaza, not only for their luxurious accommodation, but because their level of customer service is among the best.

Beautiful hotel in everyway from the room, lobby, outside patio/balcony, and most of all the people. We had a wonderful stay for our visit to the Aquarium. This hotel was a splurge for me and my family and I do not regret it. Wonderful hotel!!! Can't wait to go back and experience the spa portion of it.

This hotel was impressive from the start! Before we arrived, we were given the option to upgrade to a ocean view room. We arrived late (around 9), but the staff was so friendly, the lobby was inviting with a burning fireplace, and they delivered chocolate-covered strawberries to our room for our birthdays. Our room was huge; beds were actual queens that were so comfortable, luxerious marble bathroom with the softest robes we have ever had in a hotel and binoculars in the room (which were a lovely touch.) The temperature was around 55 degrees and we were able to keep the screen door open to listen to the waves crashing all night long. The next morning, we enjoyed watching the sea otters in the water out our balcony. What a truly relaxing hotel! As we were existing the hotel, they even cleaned our windshield before we drove off. What excellent service! We would stay here again!

We loved our stay here. We were given the option to upgrade to a bay-front corner room and it was wonderful! It was a very large room with a walk-in closet, seperate make-up area for women, desk and sitting area.

Within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and the aquarium. Free trolley transportation was available too! We will definately return!

Room Tip: Definately worth paying a little more to get a bay front room. Careful - some rooms are across a so...

We stayed here for two nights and everything was wonderful. Although we didn't have a "view" room, we actually had a nice sliver of view of the Bay. The rooms were nicely appointed and overall nice. Nice location and very friendly staff. Dinner at Schooner's was wonderful -- ate outside and enjoyed the water and the band playing that night. Lovely food, too.

Don't miss the outdoor hop tubs on the roof (part of the spa)....spectacular view of the Bay, and we saw lots of otters!

Am hoping we can come back very, very soon!!!!

This weekend we stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We spent 2 nights, Friday and Saturday. We both work in the hospitality industry so we have a tendency to critique hotels when we go. The place is pricey but was worth every penny in terms of a great place to stay in Monterey during peak tourist season. We had a Balcony room overlooking the Monterey Bay, Monterey boat harbor as well as several beaches and the terrace area of the hotel. There was a pair of binoculars in our room and from our balcony we saw Sea Otters, Sea Lions, several types of birds, kayakers, divers, two weddings, a great band performing on the terrace and many interesting people amongst other things.

The room was very nice and exceeded our expectations in most every way. All the staff were friendly and treated us like we were guests in their homes. The Front Desk, Bellman (Lyle), Maid, Valet Staff, Spa Staff were all super friendly and helpful. One of our friends called the hotel and tipped them off that we were coming for our 25th Anniversary and we were sent to our room a complimentary bottle of champagne as well as chocolate covered strawberries, what an extra special treat that was! We had a couples massage in the spa and it was also spectacular. We ate in Schooner’s Restaurant one evening and the food and service was excellent. The room service breakfast was just average. This is our new favorite place in Monterey to stay; we will just have to save our pennies to do it. We highly recommend spending the extra money on a balcony room.

Room Tip: Be sure to get an ocean view balcony room
