We stayed at the Spindrift Inn for 3 nights in August. The room interior was rather dated. The furnishings were dingy and the room was not clean. There is an electric tea maker with a prior guests used tea bag in the machine. The bag was there for our entire stay - who knows when it was originally used? The rooms have no air-conditioning and require that the windows be open when its hot. While it's delightful to fall asleep to the crash of the waves, it's awful to wake up to the screech of the seagulls.

Breakfast service is in-room only and included in the rate. We only requested service once, and only for a coffee and a tea (since the in room machines were so dirty). Our breakfast never came and we checked out.

Given the price point for this hotel, I expected much better. I've had cleaner, nicer rooms in a motel 6.

Also, no pool or fitness facilities.

Please note: this feedback was shared with the hotel at checkout.

Room tip: I can't imagine a good room here.

For starters let me tell you my wife and I would just as soon as camp then stay in a fancy hotel. Since it was our Anniversary, I wanted to do something special in a place we love (Monterey) and I found a great price on Trip Advisor so i decided to just go with it.

Guys let me tell you, this place is worth every penny if you want to spoil you companion rotten!

The lobby is quaint but very beautiful. A good welcoming for a couple just wanting to spend a romantic day and evening together. Staff is all very friendly, and since this is a small hotel they all know your name if they are expecting you to check in. (at tleast that was the case with us)

My wife's expression when we walked into the room was so great that it was all worth it at that point! We had a second floor ocean front room. (203) As amazing as the entire room is, just being able to open the windows and hear the ocean and smell the sea breeze was our first task! And the ocean is RIGHT THERE! No bluffs or dunes to look over. You are literally looking down at the waves breaking on the beach!

Real wood (gas assist) fireplaces with wood provided by the hotel will make your evening super romantic and warm. We enjoyed the room so much we never even turned on the TV! We sat in the bay window drinking wine and listing to the waves!

The hotel has a resturant attached to it (seperate owner) but we found out later they provide room service! That was a cool little find if we decide to go again in the future!

The hotel provided an in room continental breakfast. Yes, in room. Just put on the robes they supply you, sit in the bay window with the windows open, and eat your breakfast and drink your coffee!

Note: Watch the sea gulls. They will get curious (but no too curious) if you have the windows open. We found that having a water bottle with a sports top took care of them. A little squirt and they were gone.

Overall a 100 percent perfect time and Highly Recommended!

Room tip: Watch the hotel sites for room rate discounts. And ofcourse ocean front is amazing (as long as it isnt raining!)

Hi Robert,

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome you and your wife to the Spindrift Inn in celebration of your anniversary and could not be happier that it provided you both with the romantic refuge you were seeking. It was wonderful to hear how the picturesque backdrop of the Bay from your guest room and the vibrancy of Cannery Row made your stay so memorable and special. We truly cannot wait to welcome you back and look forward to celebrating many more years to come.

Sincerely,
Management of the Inns of Monterey

We came here to chill out for a night and the Inn was great. All the staff were super cool and helpful, and the room was great! Can't beat the location for walking around Cannery Row and the little beach that is right behind the Inn is a bonus.

Room tip: Ocean view on the higher floors are better but costlier.

Great location on Cannery Row, on the sea front with rooms over looking the sea or bustling street. The hotel is in walking distance to the aquarium, we arrived in the afternoon and went straight there. Great looking at the local wildlife like the sea otters. There are plenty of places to eat too, seafood/Italian...and a naughty chocolate shop opposite.
The hotel staff are lovely, great hospitality and very helpful. Breakfast requests are completed the evening before and delivered to your room for the time you decide.

Great evening after driving down the coast from San Francisco.
