“Great Location and Service”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

From arrival to departure the staff could not have been more helpful. This is a great little boutique hotel in a great location. Rooms a bit tired but the ocean view from the sitting area on the fourth floor rooms makes up for it. A bit of a lingering smoke smell from the wood burning fireplaces. If we return to Monterey we would definitely return to the Spindrift Inn.

Lovely little Inn..larger than a B&B but boutique style service. Rooms clean...best part, floors were wood, no wall to wall, working fireplace in each room, amazing comfy beds, continental breakfast delivered to the room each morning as part of the deal. Wine and cheese each evening. My only suggestion is coffee in the lobby in the morning. The view was interesting...

Room Tip: do take the rooms overlooking the ocean. the front view is interesting because you see the street b...

From the curbside greeting to the check-out, this was a fantastic hotel. When we arrived and pulled into the unloading section we were immediately greeted and welcomed, helped with unloading our stuff, and provided with valet parking ($21 per night). The staff was amazing and helpful, from the front desk and hospitality folks to the bellman. When escorted to our room we were even given a lesson on how to light the gas/wood fireplace in our room. We were asked about dinner that evening and they made reservations for us immediately, even requesting that we have a window seat to look at the water. The rooms are amazing- we had a waterfront with a large bay window opening to the bay/ocean (pay the extra- it's worth it), cozy lounge chairs facing the fireplace, large marble bathroom, coffee maker, refrigerator, and robes. Even a great continental breakfast delivered to your room and a wine and cheese reception in the lobby each afternoon. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed, we only wish we had planned to stay longer.

Room Tip: Get the ocean front top floor with a skylight. There is no pool available.

My husband and I stayed at the lovely Spindrift Inn for our 12th anniversary. It was very romantic and charming! We had a beautiful corner room overlooking the pacific ocean. I loved the box window seats that opened up to the pacific ocean so you could hear the sound of the waves crashing below. There was a large, comfortable canopy bed, with matching wing back chairs in front of a cozy wood burning fireplace. Every morning a breakfast tray was brought to our room so we could enjoy a leisurely breakfast. The hotel had turn down service nightly, free wine and cheese in the evening and there was a roof top deck that you could hang out and enjoy the view. Located close to everything! If you want to feel like a QUEEN for a night or two then I would highly recommend the Spindrift Inn!

Room Tip: The corner rooms have wrap around windows over looking the pacific ocean.

My husband and I went here for the third time in three years to celebrate our anniversary. Over the years we have come to expect certain things from this property and unfortunately they weren't met. Usually we stay in a corner ocean suite. This year we opted for the regular ocean view, believe it or not, it actually has a better view, but the bathrooms aren't as nice. Here were my problems,
1. It looked as though the rooms had been freshly painted, and one of the chairs was covered with paint.
2. Breakfast has become sloppy at best and your better off going to Starbucks to grab a quick bite. First day I got a coffee dispenser that wouldn't open and a fruit and cheese platter that seemed like it had been open to the air for hours before being served. The second day, it came extremely late, the coffee was cold and my piece of toast wasn't even fit for the seagulls outside.
3. Our second day the maid came pretty early in the morning to clean and said she would come back, we left the room for three hours and it wasn't done when we got back, she came back within half an hour of us returning to the room to clean and seemed upset that we were in the room again. I told her she could go ahead and tidy the room if she wanted too. And boy did she, she was going out of her way to slam everything and make a racket until she noticed the nice tip we left her on the bedside stand. When we confirmed it was for her she was suddenly much quieter.
4. I got attacked by the shower curtain. Our first morning there I went to take a shower and the curtain hangers are ill fitting so you have to give it a bit of a tug to move. One of the hangers wasnt placed properly and it hit me in the head. Not the best way to start your morning.
With all this said I would still like to point out that it is still a charming hotel and in a perfect location I'm just sad to see a decline in service.

We recently stayed at the Spindrift Inn for two nights during our honeymoon trip along the Pacific Coast Highway. It was everything we hoped for and more. Very romantic room with fireplace, wrap around balcony overlooking cannery row, extremely comfortable beds, silver tray breakfast delivered to your door every morning (included), very friendly/helpful staff, excellent central location with easy walk to all restaurants/aquarium. Easy access to the beach. Please note-valet only parking but very easy to get your car. Walls seemed a bit thin and road can be noisy, however it is an older building and location is right on cannery row. Cute touches included chocolates delivered to our door and various music CDs in the room to listen to. Really one of our favorite places we stayed on our trip- worth a try!!

Spindrift Inn has pretty much won us over for when we visit Monterey. We decided to give this place a try after reading reviews from Tripadvisor and Yelp. All of the good comments for this hotel are spot on. Customer service is excellent. All staff members that we encountered greeted with a smile, were kind and helped with any questions we had. We were not even aware of the included continental breakfast and daily wine & cheese social. This was a huge plus. The wood-burning fireplace was very cozy and really added to the enjoyment of the stay. Also, all wood is included and restocked when housekeeping turns the room or available in racks on each floor.

Our primary reason for visiting was to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Spindrift Inn is a very short walking distance from there. Under 1/4 mile or 5ish minute walk with plenty of delicious places to eat in between.

The only way we would even consider staying anywhere else would be if Spindrift Inn has no vacancy. We highly recommend.
